For more than twelve years, Intercessors Arise International has carried a sustained prayer burden for the Mediterranean region.
This prayer journey has included intercession for revival, spiritual awakening, worship, houses of prayer, churches, leaders, missionaries, unreached peoples, and God’s purposes across the nations surrounding the Mediterranean.
What began as a burden to pray has continued to grow into a long-term vision for worship, intercession, regional prayer, and the strengthening of houses of prayer throughout the Mediterranean.
✦ Why the Mediterranean?
The Mediterranean touches many nations, cultures, languages, histories, and spiritual crossroads.
It connects Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East and includes regions deeply significant to biblical history, missions, church history, and the spread of the Gospel.
For many years, we have felt called to pray for:
- Revival and spiritual awakening
- Churches and spiritual leaders
- Unreached people groups
- Missionaries and Gospel workers
- Houses of prayer
- Worship and intercession movements
- Cities and regions
- Unity in the Body of Christ
- Healing and reconciliation
- The spread of the Gospel
- God’s purposes across the Mediterranean
Our desire has been to listen to God, pray faithfully, and stand in agreement with His heart for the nations.
✦ Twelve Years of Prayer
Over the years, this burden has taken many forms.
There have been seasons of focused prayer, prayer journeys, regional intercession, worship and prayer gatherings, teaching, relationship-building, and ongoing prayer for nations and cities throughout the Mediterranean.
Some seasons have focused on one nation.
Other seasons have focused on the entire region.
At times, the emphasis has been revival.
At other times, it has been houses of prayer, worship, spiritual awakening, missions, or strengthening believers and leaders.
Through it all, the central calling has remained the same:
Pray faithfully for God’s purposes in the Mediterranean.

We continue to pray for a fresh move of God throughout the Mediterranean.
We pray for:
- Renewed hunger for Jesus
- Repentance and spiritual renewal
- Churches strengthened in prayer

A major part of this vision has been prayer for houses of prayer.
We believe sustained worship and intercession can help strengthen churches, leaders, believers, and communities.
Our prayer has been to see houses of prayer, prayer rooms, prayer communities, and worship-centered intercession strengthened throughout the Mediterranean.
These expressions may look different from place to place, but the heart is the same:
People seeking God, worshiping Him, praying His Word, and interceding faithfully for their cities and nations.

The Mediterranean is not one single prayer focus.
It is a region filled with distinct nations, histories, cultures, needs, and spiritual opportunities.
We have prayed for:

- Historic centers of Christianity
- Nations with little access to the Gospel
- Regions experiencing conflict, instability, or spiritual pressure
We continue asking God to show us where to pray, how to pray, and where He is opening doors for deeper partnership and intercession.

Sicily has become an important part of this growing Mediterranean prayer focus.
Because of its location in the heart of the Mediterranean, Sicily provides a strategic place for prayer, worship, gathering, and intercession for the surrounding region.
The developing Sicily House of Prayer vision is part of this larger prayer journey.
It is not separate from the twelve years of prayer.
It is one of the ways the long-term burden is beginning to take more visible form.

The Nations House of Prayer Equipping Center helps carry this vision forward through practical resources for worship, intercession, prayer rooms, houses of prayer, regional prayer initiatives, and prayer for the nations.
It provides training and encouragement for believers, churches, prayer leaders, worship teams, and prayer communities who want to strengthen a culture of prayer.
