No es fácil ser agradecido en toda circunstancia. Pero cuando elegimos darle gracias a Dios en medio de las dificultades, esto derrota a las fuerzas de la oscuridad en el ámbito espiritual. Cuando agradecemos a Dios por cada don que nos da incluso si las cosas están malas, el enemigo pierde la batalla contra nosotros. Se queda parado en su camino. Él no puede hacer prosperar sus acusaciones contra nosotros cuando andamos en el poder de una vida agradecida.
Hay una forma de ver la vida desde la perspectiva de la eternidad. No estoy diciendo que esto sea fácil o que ignoremos las grandes tragedias de la vida. La tragedia en America de la perdida de una ciudad entera es enormemente devastadora para aquellos que lo han perdido todo. La realidad de la vida eterna y la realidad de un peso eterno de gloria que excede esta vida es un tesoro sin precio. Nuestras aflicciones están construyendo para nosotros un mayor y eterno peso de gloria.
Te animo a ser agradecido por cada bendición de Dios en tu vida.
Es de gran significado para Dios el que en medio de grandes pruebas, podamos ser agradecidos en cada circunstancia. Estoy escribiendo esta carta a tan solo dos millas de Efeso, desde donde Pablo le escribió a la iglesia efesia en efesios 1:16, “No ceso de dar gracias por vosotros, haciendo memoria de vosotros en mis oraciones.”
Pablo estaba agradecido por la Iglesia. Él estaba agradecido en lo bueno y en lo malo. Él conocía el poder de una vida agradecida. Sabía que Dios le estaba conformando a Su imagen a través de cada prueba si la manejaba bien. Él sabía que un corazón que rebosa con agradecimiento puede darle la vuelta a cualquier situación para bien.
“Arraigados y sobreedificados en él, y confirmados en la fe, así como habéis aprendido, creciendo en ella con hacimiento de gracias” (Colosenses 2:7).
Pablo sabía estar agradecido incluso en una oscura prisión.
En nuestros recientes viajes, pasamos por una prisión. Empecé a pensar en Pable. Él es un testimonio para todos nosotros acerca de cómo podemos estar agradecidos en medio de circunstancias muy oscuras. Pablo fue capaz de usar incluso una experiencia de prisión para la gloria de Dios. Escribió varios libros del Nuevo Testamento desde una oscura celda de prisión. Conforme viajábamos ayer durante horas a través de la tierra en la que Pablo viajó en sus viajes misioneros, fui recordada de que quizás las mayores bendiciones de su vida que han impactado a generaciones de Cristianos, fueron sus escritos desde una oscura celda de prisión.
Con frecuencia nos olvidamos de ver nuestras circunstancias a través de los ojos del agradecimiento.
Siempre existen aquellos que están en una situación más difícil. La semana pasada tuve el privilegio de visitar una ciudad subterránea en la que los primeros cristianos tuvieron que esconderse en cavernas subterráneas para protegerse de aquellos hombres de arriba que estaban esperando para matarles.
Fui muy impresionada, conforme bajábamos más, a las oscuras cuevas de esta ciudad subterránea. Era oscuro, lugubres túneles y habitaciones de piedra en los que a veces tenías que agacharte para andar entre estos húmedos y oscuros pasadizos. Los primeros Cristianos sufrieron muchísimo por su fe.
“Fueron apedreados, aserrados, tentados, muertos á cuchillo; anduvieron de acá para allá cubiertos de pieles de ovejas y de cabras, pobres, angustiados, maltratados; De los cuales el mundo no era digno; perdidos por los desiertos, por los montes, por las cuevas y por las cavernas de la tierra. Y todos éstos, aprobados por testimonio de la fe, no recibieron la promesa…” (Hebreos 11:37-39).
¡Los primeros cristianos me recuerdan de lo muy agradecidos que debemos estar por todas las bendiciones que tenemos! Debemos ver nuestras circunstancias a través de los ojos del agradecimiento. Dios quiere que tengamos corazones agradecidos incluso en medio de las dificultades. Oraciones con agradecimiento expresadas en medio de la perdida, dificultades y durezas de la vida significan muchísimo para Dios. Porque Él sabe que son el sacrificio de alabanza y agradecimiento durante tiempos difíciles. Elegir ser agradecido en toda circunstancia tiene increíbles consecuencias.
“Por nada estéis afanosos; sino sean notorias vuestras peticiones delante de Dios en toda oración y ruego, con hacimiento de gracias” (Filipenses 4:6).
Formas de Agradecer a Dios
“Estad siempre gozosos. Orad sin cesar. Dad gracias en todo; porque esta es la voluntad de Dios para con vosotros en Cristo Jesús”
(1 Tesalonicenses 5:16-18).
- Agradece a Dios por tu salvación – Ahora mismo estamos en un lugar en el que millones de personas no conocen a Cristo. Si tú tienes el don de la vida eterna alégrate en gran manera y agradecido por tu salvación
- Agradece a Dios por tu hogar – Si actualmente tienes un hogar, luz del sol y un lugar blando en el que depositar tu cabeza, alégrate en gran manera y sé agradecido. Hay millones que no tienen tanta suerte. Los primeros Cristianos vivian meses seguidos bajo tierra sin la luz del sol. Su cama era una piedra.
- Agradece a Dios por la gloria eterna de tus circunstancias – Si ahora mismo estas atravesando dificultades, sé muy agradecido por tener una oportunidad de darle la vuelta a tus circunstancias a través de la alabanza y el agradecimiento. No importa la profundidad de la dificultad, Dios te puede bendecir cuando le das gracias a Él en los sitios difíciles.
- Agradece a Dios por cualquier libertad que tengas para compartir el evangelio – Estoy rodeada de aquellos que pueden enfrentar persecución por su fe. Si tú tienes libertad para compartir las buenas nuevas de Jesús a aquellos que te rodean, ten sumo gozo y sé agradecido. Hay millones que sufren la posibilidad de prisión, perdida de su familia o muerte por compartir su fe.
- Da gracias a Dios por su Reino inamovible – Si conoces a Cristo, ten sumo gozo y sé agradecido porque estas recibiendo un Reino que no puede ser movido. “Así que, tomando el reino inmóvil, vamos á Dios agradándole con temor y reverencia” (Hebreos 12:28).
“Dios sonríe cuando le alabamos y le agradecemos de forma continua. Pocas cosas sientan mejor que recibir alabanza y agradecimiento genuinos de otra persona. A Dios le encanta también… Algo maravilloso ocurre cuando ofrecemos alabanza y agradecimiento a Dios. Cuando le damos alegrías a Dios, nuestros propios corazones se llenan de alegría.”
