Un Llamado a una Vida Enfocada

“La batalla mas grande que todos debemos librar es la de mantenernos enfocados en Dios el tiempo suficiente como para habitar en Su presencia. Antes de poder redimir el mundo, debemos redimir nuestro tiempo. Y pensaríamos que con todos los artículos de ahorro de tiempo que tenemos en la vida, esto seria fácil pero no lo es.” Francis Frangipane

Dios nos llama a una vida enfocada. Una vida enfocada no esta dispersa en muchas direcciones debido a las distracciones. Una vida enfocada siempre se mueve hacia el centro incluso en los momentos mas ocupados porque es como un imán atraído hacia Jesús, sabiendo que solo El es el que hace que todo funcione cuando las prioridades están en orden. En nuestros viajes de los últimos meses, existía la posibilidad de distraerse debido a los muchos cambios. Hemos estado viviendo en cabinas de barco, casas en varios países, hoteles y habitaciones. Al estar en una ciudad o país durante un tiempo limitado, yo tenía el deseo de redimir el tiempo y aprovechar al máximo cada oportunidad. En medio de todo esto, le tuve que pedir a Dios que me mantuviese siempre enfocada en El. Y El me ayudo a mantenerme enfocada.

Ahora estamos de vuelta en nuestro hogar. Todo parece moverse a un paso increíble que es característico de la mayoría del mundo y especialmente de ciudades. Me veo teniendo la misma necesidad de pedirle a Dios una vida enfocada. Y esto es algo que todos nosotros debemos hacer estemos donde estemos. Los días son malos. No sabemos que ocurrirá mañana. Nuestros tiempos, especialmente con Dios han de ser sin distracciones para que podamos enfocarnos en sus planes y propósitos incluso en nuestros tiempos de oración. Hay asuntos de oración en nuestros países sobre los que debemos enfocar en intercesión. Queremos estar siempre concentrados en lo mejor de Dios y no permitir que las cosas buenas nos roben nuestro tiempo. Recordemos que el orar y habitar en Su presencia son de la máxima importancia para Dios.

“Mirad que andéis como es debido, no como necios, sino como sabios, redimiendo el tiempo, porque los días son malos” (Efesios 5: 15-16).

“Con frecuencia, no son intereses malos los que te roban el tiempo. En vez, la tentación es sacrificar aquello que es mejor por aquello que es bueno. El enemigo sabe que tentarnos abiertamente con el mal será evidente, así que nos atraerá con distracciones, dejándote sin tiempo para llevar a cabo la voluntad de Dios. Te tentara a tener tu agenda tan llena de cosas buenas que te quedaras sin tiempo para lo mejor de Dios. Puede que sustituyas la voluntad de Dios por actividades religiosas sin advertirlo, persiguiendo tus propias metas para el Reino de Dios en lugar de estar esperando su comisionado. El tiempo es un bien preciado. Asegúrate de invertirlo adecuadamente.” Henry Blackaby

Haz de la oración y la intercesión una prioridad principal de tu vida. Te reto a elegir la oración como elección prioritaria cuando tengas que tomar una decisión entre dos alternativas. He encontrado que elegir la oración por encima de otras cosas en la mayoría de decisiones es una muy buena elección. He intentado hacer esto durante años. Esto ha hecho las elecciones más fáciles, y he visto que Dios redime el tiempo de formas muy variadas y atípicas. Nunca perderás si eliges orar. Habitar en Dios y oración ahorra más tiempo del que podemos entender.

The Foundations of America

George Washington (Founder of our country): “Bless O Lord the whole race of mankind, and let the world be filled with the knowledge of Thee and Thy son, Jesus Christ.”

Patrick Henry: “It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded, not by religionists, but by Christians; not on religions, but on the Gospel of Jesus Christ.”

Abraham Lincoln (16th president): “It is the duty of nations as well as of men to won their dependence upon the overruling power of God, to confess their sins and transgressions in humble sorrow and to recognize the sublime truth, announced in the Holy Scriptures and proven by all history: that those nations only are blessed whose God is the Lord.”

56 men signed the Declaration of Independence and each one knew, when they signed their name, that they were risking everything, including their lives. Will we not stand for truth that it might prevail and that God may become King and Ruler of Hampton Roads and of America?

Bill Bright says, “From the days of Columbus on, God used great care in forming the United States of America, creating us to be a worldwide influence.” The New England Confederation proclaimed in 1643 said: “We all came to these parts of America with the same end and aim, namely, to advance the Kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

When the Jamestown settlers stepped ashore, they immediately planted a cross and claimed the land for Christ. Governor William Bradfore in referring to the pilgrims’ mission in the new world said this, “They cherished a great hope and inward zeal of laying good foundations, or at least making some ways toward it, for the propagation and advance of the Gospel of the Kingdom of Christ in the remote parts of the world, even though they should be but stepping stones to others in the performance of so great a work.”

The Mayflower Compact of 1620 declares that the Pilgrims came to advance the Christian faith for the glory of God. They believed they were part of God’s plan to raise up a nation from which they and their descendants would not only enjoy the blessings of a new land with religious and political freedom, but also touch the world with the Gospel.

The Puritans had made a covenant with God and understood the powerful significance of this. Winthrop said, “Thus stands the cause between God and us. We are entered into covenant with Him for this work. We have taken out a commission . . . But if we neglect to observe those articles, and dissembling with our God shall embrace the present world and prosecute our carnal intentions, seeking great things for ourselves and our prosperity, then the Lord will surely break out in wrath against us, and be avenged of a perjured people, and He will make us know the price of such a breach of such a covenant.”

God’s blessing comes with a purpose. “We as a nation seem to have forgotton that life is more than a series of causes and effects. Just as there is a goal, a destination to which God is ultimately leading each individual, God also has a specific and definite goal for each nation. Throughout American history, we see dramatic evidence of God’s hand molding and shaping this nation into a vessel He can use.”

Like our forefathers, we must fight for our nation and claim it for God. We can no longer let the devil take our country. It is time for intercessors to arise in believing prayer and take back this nation for God. We need to cry out that His destiny for America will come to pass. We need to pray that we will be a blessing to the nations of the world.

The Beauty of God’s Diversity

“Each prayer group is tempted to think its approach is the most effective way to pray. Yet we find – if we’re willing to take the first step and actually get out there and pray with those who are different from us – that it’s Jesus we have in common. When we’re standing in His presence together, focusing on Him, theological walls come tumbling down. Prayer is not about us. It’s about Jesus, His fame, His purposes, His desires.” Fawn Parish

May we not deprive ourselves of the richness, the wisdom and the many dimensions of God. Recently I was able to live with people from over 40 nations. We lived with this diversity for many years in the past, and it was a tremendous experience to live with so many cultures once again.

Presently we are in Germany training people from many different countries who are working in many nations. It is wonderful and reminds me of what heaven will be like. In the same way, I have had the experience of praying with and meeting intercessors of not only different countries, but of different denominational backgrounds, ages, personalities and approaches to prayer. It is a real delight for me to meet and get to know such a diverse group of people. Some have been praying for years and some are beginning and wanting to learn more. I sense the delight of God in every single person who wants to learn to pray.

He enjoys all these different types of prayer warriors, and we should too!

Open your heart to others who may have a different denomina-tional background or prayer style than yours. Know that God is not limited to just one style of praying. He enjoys them all and is thrilled with every young Christian who is learning to pray. It is really time that we begin to focus on Him and forget our differences. This does not mean that we shouldn’t pray with those who are like us, but we must be willing to pray with those who are different and not judge their approach to God.

Remember that Jesus is the treasure, the Word of God is the treasure map, and each one of us is a clue to that treasure. We miss out if we never mix with those who are different, because they have clues to the treasure that we need. We see a wider spectrum of God’s nature as we see the diversity of one another.

The main thing that keeps us apart from one another is our pride. Someone has said that pride is like bad breath. You’re the last person to know you have it. God wants us to walk in humility, and to esteem and honor one another. The richness of God is wild, untamable and unfathomable. We must passionately seek to embrace humbly anyone who has a clue to the treasure of Jesus. Intercession is diverse in so many ways – cultural backgrounds, gender, denomina-tional background, spiritual maturity, etc.

“The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ” (1 Corin-thians 12:12).

The Diversity of Intercessors

“God didn’t make a mistake when He made us different. He did it for a purpose. Just as we need all the parts of our physical body, we need all the different prayer styles in the body of Christ. We need all the different prayer styles to pray everything that is on God’s heart.” Alice Smith

The following are many prayer styles that show forth the treasure of diversity in the body of Christ.

Worship intercessors – They like to worship during prayer times or sing their prayers to God.
Warfare intercessors – They like to uncover the enemy’s evil plans and stop him through their prayers.
Crisis intercessors – They like to pray for emergencies.
List intercessors – They like to pray from a list. They often have missionaries, unsaved friends or the sick on lists.
Issues intercessors – They like to pray for issues in the news such as government decisions, disasters or scandals.
Nations intercessors – They like to pray for countries or over a map.
Prophetic intercessors – They like to listen to God as much as they speak. They like to pray on-target prayers.
Mercy intercessors – They feel the heart of God and pray in a way that brings God’s mercy into situations.
Special assignment intercessors – They like to pray for situations or people that God puts on their heart.
Administrative intercessors – They like to organize others to pray. They inform others of prayer needs, organize prayer chains and help others to pray more effectively.
Evangelism intercessors – They like to pray for the lost until they are saved.
Flexible intercessors – They like to use a variety of prayer styles in prayer and can move from one style to another according to the need of the moment.

Evangelism and Kingdom Living

“But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of him”
(2 Corinthians 2:14).

Every intercessor should be involved in some form of evangelism. You cannot pray without reaching out to the people around you. Intercession and outreach to the needy must be cultivated. God is preparing us for the final harvest. He wants us to see the big picture and be His kingdom people. We are called to pray in the Kingdom of God (Lord’s prayer) and take part in bringing in God’s kingdom rule on earth. We are taking back the earth for the Lord Jesus. Every time you witness, every time you pray for someone, every time you bring encouragement, every time you lead someone to the Lord, you are bringing in God’s kingdom.

The kingdom of God by definition is the arena of God’s rule, the place where God is king. We need a vision of the big picture, because there is a big gap in the tapestry of what God is doing if we don’t do our individual part. There is an enormous significance to your life and ministry because you are in a worldwide tapesty of what God is doing in bringing in His kingdom. Your individual responsibility and part is so important right now. It is assigned to you by God, and you are united to a worldwide prayer and evangelistic movement.

Paul said, “The kingdom of God does not consist in words but in power” (1 Corinthians 4:20). We are now entering into a time where the power of God is of utmost importance. God wants us to be men and women of power who proclaim and live the kingdom of God. The true word is verified by the true power of God. Jesus often performed miracles before he taught. He knew that if people had an encounter with God, they would be more open to what he had to say. The kingdom of God is now. Jesus came to teach the way of life in the kingdom of God, and He does it in the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5-7. The Sermon on the Mount is the description and instruction for kingdom living. The kingdom is mentioned 160 times in Scripture. It is here available to everyone.

Everything revolves around bringing God’s kingdom on earth. Christ will rule on earth. We must reclaim our high ground of hope for the future. We can live in the reality of the age to come and experience his glory right now. The great hope that Jesus gave us about His kingdom was that it was at hand (Mark 1:15). Our message of the kingdom is that Jesus is king. When darkness is covering the earth, the glory of the lord will arise. We can build for the age to come. We can enhance our worship of the king. We can live as God’s kingdom people practicing the Sermon on the Mount right where we live and work. As we begin to bring God’s kingdom into our neighborhoods and work environments, here are four powerful ways to begin to practice kingdom living in your own life.

Ways to Practice Kingdom Living

Study the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5-7 – Begin to pray it into your own life.
Worship God as king, and give Him extravagant praise – God’s power is released as you worship over the area you desire to reach.
Study verses on the Kingdom of God – Prophetically proclaim God’s kingdom over the land God is giving you.
Understand the tremendous authority you have in Christ in praying God’s kingdom on earth, and live it out in your daily life – Demonic spirits fled wherever Jesus walked, because He walked in holiness and practiced kingdom living (Mt. 5-7).

Preparation to Rule and Reign

“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people
for God’s own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies
of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light”
(1 Peter 2:9).

We must not forget in the midst of our daily struggles that God is preparing us to rule and reign with Him when we comes. We are called to pray in His Kingdom and to understand that He is preparing us for a very glorious purpose. So let us not get disheartened at the trials that we face. They are only to develop us in spirit and in truth. We are all going through a purifying process. May our faith be strengthened in Him.

“Not only are we a priesthood, we are a ‘royal’ priesthood. Christians are the true royalty on the earth. We are sons and daughters of the King of kings. We should conduct our lives with the dignity, grace, and integrity of such royalty. We should also understand that a priesthood is for the purpose of first serving the Lord, but also serving all nations, races, and cultures with intercession and ministry.” Rick Joyner

Keys to help in your personal battles in spiritual warfare and trials:

Ask your pastor and church leadership to cover the intercessors in your church in prayer – This could eliminate much of the spiritual warfare that Satan is attacking intercessors with in these days. A pastoral prayer covering for all of the intercessors in your church will make a big difference. It can help you to walk in greater victory and remove some of the attack that is on your life as an intercessor. We need to remind one another that we are a royal priesthood and will one day rule and reign with Christ. Together we can intercede for one another and stand in united strength.
Silence the voice of the enemy by starving out the spirit of criticism, irrational fear, and unbelief – God wants us to fast not only from food but from critical, unbelieving, negative speech. Let’s fast from these negative forms of speech and release the opposite spirit and the nature of Christ Jesus. Instead of being negative, let us bless others with positive words, and declare that God is going to reign over the earth. Declare that the “earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof.”
Realize that God is preparing you for His Kingdom – He is making you ready to take responsibility and authority with Him when He comes. May none of us lose sight of this reality.

Prayer Journaling

“I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago. I will meditate on all your works and consider all your mighty deeds. Your ways, O Lord, are holy” (Psalm 77:11-13a).

Some of the most profound insights and experiences of life come out of prayer journaling. God wants to speak and give us insights into life. Journaling brings shape and order to everything that we do. I have been keeping a prayer journal for many years, and it helps keep my life in order and my priorities right. It helps me to remember what God has done. Truthfully, it has been one of the most important disciplines in my prayer life.

Prayer journaling is a way to daily dialogue with God and helps us to keep track of how God is speaking to us. Many insights into these Intercessors Arise letters come out of my prayer journaling with the Lord. I highly recommend it.

God wants to drop ideas and divine strategies into our hearts, but we soon forget them if we do not write them down and pray through them. Prayer journaling helps in numerous ways to keep us aware of what God is saying. It is a way to listen carefully because God is always speaking the truth to us, and many times it is in that still, small voice. Prayer journaling can help us to receive God’s truth instead of the lies of the enemy. Prayer is the most creative and important work that we can do, because all other work flows out of a life of prayer. It includes praise, giving thanks, intercession, petition, confession, listening, setting goals with God, and many other things. All of these dimensions of prayer can be part of our prayer journal.

Certainly prayer journaling will make our lives deeper and richer as we write down and remember what God is saying to us and what we are bringing before His throne regularly in prayer.

The Benefits of Prayer Journaling

“I remember the days of long ago; I meditate on all your works and consider what your hands have done” (Psalm 143:5).

It helps us become personally accountable for what we hear from God – God speaks to us as we pray and meditate on His Word. When we journal, we can hold ourselves accountable as to what action steps He may want us to take or what He may want us to concentrate on in prayer over a period of time.
It enhances our interaction with God – It can make God more real to us. He longs for fellowship with us, and journaling can deepen our intimacy with Him. It helps us to keep alert when we are tired.
It opens our heart to God fully – I have personally found that I can open my heart to God in a deeper way when I journal my prayers, thoughts and ideas.
It helps us to process our thoughts – It helps so much to think through what God is speaking or what we have been reading. When we write down our thoughts as we spend time with God, it helps us to process what we are going through in our lives.
It reminds us of what God has spoken to us – We can so easily forget what God has spoken to us in our hearts or in His Word unless we write it down and remind ourselves later. So often in the Bible, we are told to remember the works and ways of God.
It enables us to see patterns and get clarity – We may see strongholds in our lives that keep re-occurring. We may begin to see more clearly what God may be saying to us again and again or action steps of obedience we are to take.
It enables us to record God’s faithfulness in the past – Prayer journaling helps us to meditate on memories of God’s faithfulness. David did a lot of prayer journaling. He wrote so many of the Psalms and continually remembered God’s blessings of the past.
It helps us to remember what has happened – Prayer journaling has helped me so much in traveling, because I can go back and remember what has happened. Present day life is so complex. It is easy to forget what has happened and what we have learned.
It changes our perspective – Prayer journaling is therapeutic. It is as if we are in a counseling session with God when we write out our thoughts and prayers to Him. Often our perspective changes as we begin to see things from His point of view.
It leads to action – We often can take action as we process our thoughts through prayer journaling. Action steps become clearer because we are writing them down with God’s divine direction and help.
It helps us to see the growth process in our life – Prayer journaling helps us to grow quickly because we are bringing the things that concern us to God. Through journaling, we see our life more clearly through God’s eyes.

How to Prayer Journal

My heart is stirred by a noble theme as I recite my verses for the king; my tongue is the pen of a skillful writer” (Psalm 45:1).

Begin to write – There are so many ways you can journal. God will give you creativity. Some examples are prayers, poetry, your dreams, goals, burdens, delights, joys, Scripture, songs, letters or whatever God is saying to you.
Journal regularly but not out of duty – You may journal daily, weekly or as often as you like. It is really up to you. It is important not to look at prayer journaling as a heavy burden or a duty. It’s a friend and will help you in life rather than weigh you down with another responsibility.
Record prayer requests and date them – Then you can look back at how and when God answered your prayers. This will build your faith in prayer. It will also remind you of requests that need more intercession.
Record God’s answers to your prayers – My husband did that while living overseas and saw how faithfully God answered his prayers. He recorded the dates of answered prayer. It is a testimony of God’s goodness.
Watch for the progress you are making in your spiritual life – I always look back in my prayer journals and see how I change and develop spiritually from year to year. It helps me so much to see spiritual progress in my life and how God is working.
Write out what God is saying to you – This is important so that you can look at your journal during the quiet seasons in your spiritual life. Ask yourself, “How is God personally revealing Himself to me?
Write out key Bible verses that speak to you during times of prayer – God will guide you and help you in important times of decision-making by using Scripture.

I encourage you to make prayer journaling a regular part of your life. I believe that you, too, will find it to be an incredible blessing in your prayer and devotional life.

“Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always. Remember the wonders he has done, his miracles . . .” (1 Chronicles 16:11-12).

¿Cómo Modeló Jesús la Humildad?

Si queremos ser personas de oración, debemos aprender a caminar en la humildad de Jesús. Jesús era humilde. Tal vez esta era su característica más destacada. Imagínese si usted fuera Dios, igual al Padre, compartiendo la gloria con Él, teniendo todos los privilegios de ser Dios, y entonces te convertiste en un hombre, y te quitas todos esos privilegios. “Él es la imagen del Dios invisible” (Colosenses 1:15). Imagínate llegar ser el servidor de todos y ser Dios escondido en la oscuridad de la humanidad.

Su humildad se expresó más cuando se hizo hombre y murió en la cruz. Él nunca insistió en sus derechos y privilegios para ser honrado, entendido o visto correctamente, sino que se despojó a sí mismo de su reputación. Él estaba contento de ser visto como ordinario y no buscó ser estimado. Piensa en abrazar una vida de debilidad, pobreza, vergüenza, falta de hogar, rechazo y dolor. Nos damos cuenta de esto cuando estudiamos Isaías 53 y vemos a Jesús como el siervo sufriente. Jesús tuvo la humildad de corazón.

Es fácil para nosotros decir que somos humildes y quebrantados hasta que llega la verdadera prueba, y se nos pone en una posición de humildad. Nos preguntamos, “¿Por qué no somos reconocidos?” No se siente bien. Reaccionamos y no nos gusta. Queremos ser importantes y a menudo somos tan orgullosos. Pero Jesús se hizo nada durante su vida en la tierra, y Él nos da su ejemplo para que podamos seguir en Sus pasos. De hecho, el único rasgo de carácter que Él proclamó acerca de sí mismo era su humildad. Jesús no se puso en humildad sólo para realizar una tarea en la tierra. La humildad es parte de Su naturaleza eterna. Al entender Su humildad, se debe producir admiración, inspiración y confianza en nosotros. En su humildad de corazón encontramos descanso para nuestras almas (Mateo 11:29).

Recuerdo una de mis primeras experiencias en el campo misionero. Me uní a un barco con otros 300, principalmente jóvenes, e íbamos a cambiar el mundo! El nombre de esa nave era Doulos. La palabra en griego significa “siervo” o “esclavo” y todos estábamos aprendiendo a ser siervos por Jesús. Estoy segura de que en ese momento no nos habíamos hundido en el significado justo de la palabra en la experiencia real. Todos nos fuimos al campo de la misión con las ideas de grandeza, tal vez alcanzaríamos millones para Cristo o iniciar un orfanato o un instituto bíblico o convertirse en un gran evangelista. Pero cuando llegamos, para nuestra sorpresa, fuimos asignados a los grandes trabajos—limpiando Sanitarios, arreglando la pintura, lavando los platos—y otros servicios de alto nivel muy similares.

Mi primer trabajo en ese barco era servir la comida en el comedor. Recuerdo algunas de las luchas iniciales por las que pasé al servir la comida una y otra vez en América del Sur sin tregua aparente. Teníamos que limpiar tan rápido como podíamos y prepararnos para otro grupo de hasta 300 personas hambrientas que venían a comer. Era bastante agotador para decir lo menos, y el problema de tener un trabajo humilde es que otros realmente te tratan de esa manera, y no te sientes muy bien en ese momento. El campo misionero no era tan glamorosa como siempre había imaginado.

Pero trabajar en el comedor causó una gran impresión en mi vida.

Poco después de unirnos a esa nave antigua construida en 1914, navegamos a mi país y uno de los estudiantes de mi Seminario Bíblico vino a bordo para comer en nuestro comedor. Cuando me vio, muy sorprendentemente preguntó: “¿Por todos los Cielos, qué estás haciendo aquí?” Después de todo, yo era graduada de la universidad con especialidad en Biblia y debería estar haciendo algo mejor que lavar los platos y servir los alimentos. Pero para ese entonces ya había conseguido una victoria considerable en mi corazón, y con mucho entusiasmo le dije acerca de cómo yo estaba aprendiendo acerca de la humildad y la forma de ser un siervo. No creo que él estuviera muy impresionado.

Un par de años más tarde, estaba de visita en nuestra base de misión en Inglaterra. Después de comer el almuerzo en el comedor, llevé mi bandeja hacia el lugar donde estaban apilados todos los platos sucios. Para mi sorpresa completa, ahí estaba mi amigo de la Seminario Bíblica detrás de la pila de platos para lavar. Lo miré con sorpresa y le dije: “¿Por todos los Cielos, qué estás haciendo aquí?” Él me miró con timidez. Estaba aprendiendo la lección importante de la humildad, y es una lección que debemos aprender una y otra vez durante toda nuestra vida.

Dios da gracia a los humildes—Él Odia orgullo. Él sólo puede utilizar los humildes. Debemos abrazar la lección más importante y aprender a vestirnos a nosotros mismos en esta noble prenda. Vamos a aprender a caminar en humildad y servir como lo hizo Jesús (Mateo 20:28). Jesús nos mostró su identidad central cuando se quitó el manto y se ciñó con una toalla, y se lavó los pies a sus discípulos (Juan 13). Jesús declaró que un siervo es más grande de todos (Mateo 23:11). Leemos en Mateo 20: 26-28:

“No es así con usted. Sino que el que quiera hacerse grande entre vosotros, será vuestro servidor, y el que quiera ser el primero deberá ser esclavo—así como el Hijo del Hombre no vino para ser servido, sino para servir, y para dar su vida en rescate por muchos.”

En 1986, dos barcos chocaron frente a las costas de Rusia en el Mar Negro. Cientos de pasajeros perdieron la vida, ya que fueron lanzados a las aguas congeladas. A través de la investigación de la causa de este desastre, se encontró que no era un problema de tecnología o incluso por la espesa niebla. Terquedad y orgullo humano fue la causa del problema. Cada capitán podría haberse evitado el uno del otro. Estaban conscientes de la cercanía del barco, pero ningún capitán quería dar paso al otro. Cada uno era demasiado orgulloso para ceder. Así que chocaron y cientos de pasajeros murieron como resultado. Su falta de humildad resultó en un desastre.

La intercesión no es una ocupación reconocida. La oración es generalmente inadvertido por las multitudes. Está escondida—nadie sabe de nuestras horas en la sala de oración. Se siente rebajado—es humillante porque justo en el medio de la sala de oración eres confrontado con el ejemplo de la humildad de Jesús. Usted comienza a probar algo muy importante acerca de Jesús, y ves tu propia falta, tu orgullo y pecado. Tu ego salta cuando pasa desapercibido. Todos queremos ser importante, pero es más importante ser agradable.

Jesús se hizo nada para que usted y yo para que pudiéramos ser libres. Tenemos que hacer lo mismo y aprender a abrazar la cruz. Él es nuestro modelo perfecto. Él fue obediente y Dios lo levantó alto y lo honró. Las naciones verán la humildad de Jesús en Su victorioso triunfo en su segunda venida. Filipenses 2: 8-11 dice:

“Por lo cual Dios también le exaltó y le dio un nombre que es sobre todo nombre, para que en el nombre de Jesús se doble toda rodilla de los que están en los cielos, y en la tierra, y debajo de la tierra, y toda lengua confiese que Jesucristo es Señor, para gloria de Dios Padre.”

Dios pone un alto precio en la humildad de corazón. Él contesta las oraciones de los humildes.

*¿Estamos dispuestos a dejar a un lado toda nuestra fama terrenal, con el fin de obtener el mayor premio—Jesús mismo?
*¿Estamos dispuestos a ser humildes en esta vida y simplemente orar sin ser notados—sin fanfarria, ni reconocimiento, incluso a veces siendo mal interpretados
¿Estamos dispuestos a caminar humildemente como Jesús para *ganar mucho más en la eternidad?

“Porque todo el que se enaltece será humillado, y el que se humilla será enaltecido” (Lucas 14:11).

La humildad es el fundamento de lo que Dios es, lo que El hace, y bendice para siempre. Podemos tomar un buen vistazo a lo que realmente significaba para el Rey de Reyes para nacer en un humilde pesebre, vivir una vida humilde, y morir una muerte desinteresada por nosotros. Él persiguió la mansedumbre y se inclinó tan bajo por cada uno de nosotros. Que la realidad de la humildad de Jesús cambié nuestras vidas para siempre. Aprendamos a caminar en humildad y diariamente vestirnos a nosotros mismos con la belleza de la humildad. Dios resiste a los soberbios, y da gracia a los humildes (Santiago 4: 6).

Preparación para el Avivamiento

Muchos de nosotros oramos para que Dios envíe un avivamiento entre nosotros. Intercedemos no sólo por nosotros, sino por aquellos que nos rodean, pidiendo a Dios que se mueva de una manera poderosa. Pero, ¿cómo debe ser un avivamiento en realidad y cómo debemos orar?

Mi esposo y yo tuvimos el maravilloso privilegio de vivir en Gales durante más de un año. Un gran avivamiento se extendió por esa tierra en el año 1904, haciendo un impacto en la nación y en el mundo—en un corto espacio de tiempo. Tuvimos la bendición añadida de visitar la Capilla Moriah, el edificio de la iglesia pequeña donde el avivamiento de Gales estalló. Me quedé sorprendida por lo insignificante en apariencia del edificio. Sin embargo, el poder de Dios se extendió por todo el mundo a partir de ese humilde lugar. Los creyentes en Gales están orando por otro avivamiento poderoso para su tierra, y nosotros hemos sido inspirados para pensar, estudiar y orar mucho por el avivamiento desde entonces.

El tema del avivamiento trae gran interés para la mayoría de nosotros porque anhelamos que Dios barra a través de todo nuestro país. Pero debemos darnos cuenta de que el avivamiento tiene un alto costo, y cada uno de nosotros debemos estar dispuestos a pagar el precio para prepararnos para él.

Detrás del concepto de avivamiento está la palabra hebrea chayah, que significa “vivir.” En la Concordancia Strong, la palabra se traduce como” hacer vivir, nutrir, preservar, acelerar, recuperar, reparar, restaurar, guardar, mantener vivo y sanar. “¿Quién de nosotros no desea que se acelere la Iglesia, que sea sanada, preservada y avivada? Debemos orar con una pasión de todo corazón para que esto suceda. Y así será. Cuando la Iglesia sea avivada, será más fuerte y más poderosa en contra de las fuerzas de las tinieblas. Ella será una luz brillante en este mundo oscuro. Será victoriosa y atraerá a los perdidos.

Cuando el avivamiento impactó a Gales, toda la comunidad se vio sacudida por el poder de Dios. Multitudes iban a las reuniones de oración a las 6:00 A.M. Porque el Espíritu Santo afectó a muchas personas, toda la comunidad pronto se convirtió en una multitud de oración. Evan Roberts, el joven grandemente usado en el avivamiento de Gales, hablaría de cuatro principios o claves para caminar en avivamiento. Estos son útiles en nuestra búsqueda por un avivamiento personal y corporativo en nuestras propias vidas:

El pasado debe quedar limpio por haber sido confesado a Dios y todo lo malo hecho al hombre debe corregirse.
Cada cosa dudosa en la vida tiene que quedar atrás.
Debe haber una pronta obediencia al Espíritu Santo.
Tiene que haber una confesión pública de Cristo.

Vivimos en tiempos serios. Tenemos que clamar fervientemente a Dios, pidiéndole que traiga un avivamiento a su Iglesia en todo el mundo. Tenemos que estar en oración intensa, pidiéndole a Dios que se mueva en nuestras ciudades y naciones. El estudio de las características del avivamiento nos ayudará a prepararnos tanto a nivel personal como corporativo para un gran mover de Dios en su Iglesia. Entendiendo la profunda necesidad de preparar nuestros corazones para el avivamiento y aprendiendo a cooperar con Dios, mientras Él lo derrama en la tierra, nos guardará de impedir el movimiento de Dios que viene. La frase clave del avivamiento de Gales en 1904 fue: “Humilla a la Iglesia y salva al mundo.”

Las Características Humanas del Avivamiento

La preparación espiritual – La unidad y la oración son dos elementos claves necesarios para el avivamiento. Tenemos que pagar el precio de la preparación espiritual. El avivamiento no vendrá sin un hambre y sed de Dios que traiga una oración intensa. Tiene que haber un deseo por Su gloria. No podemos ser indiferentes o apáticos, debemos rasgar nuestros corazones con el clamor que nace de los anhelos en el corazón de Dios.Cuarenta días después de que Jesús ascendió al cielo, sus seguidores obedientemente se prepararon para un avivamiento espiritual : “Todos éstos perseveraban unánimes en la oración” (Hechos 1:14).
“Nuestro problema fundamental es que estamos satisfechos con un conocimiento muy superficial y preliminar de Dios… nos pasamos la vida en en un activismo lleno de acupaciones… Lo inevitable y constante, preliminarmente para el avivamiento ha sido siempre una sed de Dios, una sed, una sed intensa por el conocimiento del Dios vivo y un anhelo, un deseo ardiente de verle manifestarse, que se muestre a sí mismo y Su poder, levantándose y dispersando a sus enemigos.” Martin Lloyd-Jones
La convicción de pecado – En un verdadero avivamiento, la gente está presa de una abrumadora convicción de pecado. Incluso el más pequeño pecado parece grande. El pecado no es tomado a la ligera. Dios trata con los salvos y con los perdidos. El avivamiento es intensamente personal; Dios te convence de pecado personal, y tu alma está en un abrazo agonizante con un Dios santo. Es un encuentro con el poder convincente de Dios. “Ellos fueron compungidos de corazón” (Hechos 2:37).
“La asamblea parecía postrada con una convicción tremenda de su pecado y el peligro. Había tal ambiente de angustia y llanto, que el predicador se vio obligado a hablar con la gente y pedir silencio para que él pudiera ser escuchado. Muchos de los oyentes eran vistos inconscientes, sosteniendose contra de los pilares y a los lados de las bancas como si ya se sintieran caer en el abismo.” Wallis
La conciencia de Dios – En el avivamiento, hay una conciencia de Dios, la conciencia de su santidad y poder. En el día de Pentecostés, “todo el mundo se llenó de asombro” (Hechos 2:43). Las personas atrapadas en el avivamiento saben, sin lugar a dudas, que Dios está ahí. Sienten un magnetismo divino hacia su presencia.
“No había nada humanamente hablando, para dar cuenta de lo ocurrido. De repente, sobre uno y sobre otro vino un abrumador sentido de la realidad y el terror de su presencia y de las cosas eternas. La vida, la muerte y la eternidad parecían de pronto al descubierto.” Winkie Pratney

Pueda Dios prepararnos a cada uno de nosotros personalmente, para pagar el precio por un avivamiento—el precio de la oración ferviente. Y permitirle a Él que obre profundamente en nuestras vidas. Pidámole que nos haga conscientes de su presencia y que podamos aprender a permanecer en Él, momento a momento. Oremos para que Él nos convenza de incluso el más pequeño pecado en nuestra vida. Presione en oración y ayuno por un avivamiento en las naciones. Un avivamiento mundial al final de los tiempos va a suceder como una cosa gloriosa, pero va a ser costoso.

Vivíamos en un barco de exhibición de libros durante años. En algunos países, miles de visitantes llegaban a bordo todos los días. Las largas horas de duro trabajo consumían toda nuestra atención. ¿Estamos preparados para las exigencias del avivamiento? Dios tiene que preparar a su Iglesia, personal y corporativamente, para el autosacrificio que implica el avivamiento. No podemos retroceder, mas bien debemos preprararnos para tomar posesión de este glorioso derramamiento de Dios en el tiempo final, con todo nuestro corazón como la novia radiante de Cristo, que está dispuesta a sacrificar todo para que las personas puedan ser salvos.

“!Oh, si rompieses los cielos, y descendieras, y a tu presencia se escurriesen los montes, como fuego abrasador de fundiciones, fuego que hace hervir las aguas, para que hicieras notorio tu nombre a tus enemigos, y las naciones temblasen a tu presencia!” (Isaías 64:1-2).

When God Hides His Face

“Hiddenness. God hides for a reason – so that He can develop you on the inside and train you to see with the eyes of faith. In manifesta-tion, you can already see what God is doing. In hiddenness, you learn to look inward and recog-nize that God is still at work, relying purely on your faith.”

In the natural world, we pass through many seasons. The same is true in the spiritual realm. There are seasons in our lives where God is manifesting himself to us through blessing and feelings of His presence. This reminds me of spring where the birds begin to sing, flowers start to grow, and the trees begin to flourish with new leaves.

There are also seasons in life when God seems to be hidden or far away. This reminds me of winter when everything seems to die, the days are shorter, and life seems to go into seclusion. From a spiritual perspective, in this season a less mature believer may feel he has done something wrong or that God is angry because he doesn’t feel His presence. But for those who have learned to walk with God, there is a realization that though God may appear absent, He has not forsaken them. He is always there. He just is hidden.

When God hides His face, He is calling us to a deeper place.

Most of us don’t fully appreciate those times when God seems absent. We don’t fully grasp the true blessedness of this time. We always want God to manifest Himself to us—We want to experience God—We want to feel good—We don’t like walking by faith instead of by sight. But if we don’t understand these times, we may miss out on all that God wants to do internally. This is God’s training ground. Understand that this is the time when God wants to teach you wisdom in the inmost place.

God is right now raising-up strong and consistent intercessors who know how to pray and live holy lives whether God appears absent or present. They will not be shaken or faithless when He is hidden from their sight. They will know in their spirit that He is always there. They will take advantage of these times to grasp hold of wisdom in the inmost place. They will submit their will to God in this season. They know that in times when God hides His face, they are able to process deep truth. In his book When the Lights Go Out, Graham Cooke explains how hiddenness is God’s training ground:

“Real wisdom is hidden from us until God reveals it to us. He often chooses to do that in the place of hiddenness. Hiddenness is God’s training ground. In hiddenness God is teaching us the wisdom of how to walk with Him, how to know Him, how to understand Him and how to live a life of reverent fear.”

Spiritual Benefits of This Season

“Surely you desire truth in the inner parts; you teach me wisdom in the inmost place” (Psalm 51:6).

There are many benefits in experiencing God’s hiddenness. We must learn to look at these times as extremely valuable when we go deeper with God and receive treasures in the secret place. Look at these times in your life. Have you seen the great blessing of these hidden places in your life where you wondered where God was? God has a goldmine of blessing if you learn to handle this time in the right way. Embrace these benefits when God hides His face and treasure them in your heart:

Hiddenness is a time for building – God is building internally in your life. There are times of manifestation when you feel the joy and presence of God, but hiddenness is when God is doing internal work in your life.

Hiddenness teaches you God’s wisdom – God wants to reveal wisdom to you. He wants to have you all to Himself, and He will tell you many secret words of wisdom if you learn to listen.

Hiddenness develops your inner man – God is building you into a man or woman of the spirit. During this time, you learn to live in the spirit and not in the soul. You learn to submit your soul to your spirit.

Hiddenness teaches you to live inwardly – God is teaching you consistency inwardly. You learn to turn inward to find out what God is like. He reveals His love and character in the inward place.

Hiddenness reveals deep truth – God uncovers wrong perspectives and ways of living. You learn about His ways. He answers your questions and gives you new insight.

Hiddenness teaches you to live above the enemy’s attacks – You can learn to live far above the enemy’s ability to destroy or defeat you. You learn to overcome evil with good (Romans 12:2).

Hiddenness changes you radically – God changes your heart towards Him and towards people. He transforms your life through seasons of hiddenness.

If you are experiencing a season when God is hiding His face, understand that He is developing you on the inside. This is a special time in your life. Do not run from it. Let God have His way. Take time to wait in contemplative silence before Him. Learn to flow with Him during this season of your life. You need not be shaken or become sad during times when God seems absent. You just need to understand the ways of God. He is working deeply within you. God is stripping away the externals in your life and building deep, spiritual consistency within you. He is teaching you to walk by faith, depending on your understanding of His nature alone. He is always faithful and good.

In my Christian life, I have experienced the hiddenness of God several times. There were many times when I didn’t understand what I was going through, especially in my early years as a Christian. But I am beginning to learn to rejoice more and more in these seasons, because I know that God wants to reveal deep truth to me in the hidden place. This time is good if we understand what God is doing and if we realize the many benefits God wants to impart to us. In due season, God will again bring us into the place of manifestation where we feel and experience His presence in a fuller dimension. Let’s learn to become comfortable with the ways of God.

“When we become comfortable with the ways of God in hiddenness, we will find ourselves going farther in the realm of the Spirit than ever before. We’ll go farther than we ever thought possible in our present circumstances, because He’ll take us to a place of deeper revelation, and we will experience a bigger breakthrough.” Graham Cooke

La Oración Descubre la Agenda de Dios

“Cada vez que el Señor se enfrentó a una decisión importante, oró. Cuando fue tentado a hacer cosas por los métodos del mundo en lugar de los del Padre, Él oró (Mateo 4). Cuando llegó el momento de elegir a sus discípulos, oró toda la noche (Lucas 6:12). Si el Hijo de Dios requirió una noche de oración con el fin de determinar la mente del Padre, ¿cuánto tiempo puede que nos lleve en oración para determinar con claridad la voluntad de nuestro Padre?” Henry y Richard Blackaby

Permitan que la oración establezca la agenda de sus vidas. Muchos de nosotros a menudo nos preocupamos acerca de nuestras vidas. ¿Qué debemos hacer el próximo año? ¿Dónde debemos vivir? ¿A qué escuela debemos ir? Todas estas son buenas preguntas que necesitan una cuidadosa reflexión. Pero si la mayoría de nosotros somos honestos, tendríamos que admitir que nos preocupamos innecesariamente. Está bien obtener consejos sabios y sopesar las opciones, sin embargo cuando la preocupación se convierte en ansiedad innecesaria, no estamos confiando en Dios, que sabe exactamente cómo manejar cada situación que enfrentamos. La vida se vuelve más fácil cuando aprendemos a buscar a Dios por cada aspecto de nuestros planes. Nuestros tiempos invertidos en la oración traerán revelación de Su agenda para nosotros. Podemos estar seguros de que en el análisis final, es Dios quien sabe lo que es mejor para nosotros y lo que le dará a Él la mayor gloria.

Priorizar la oración y dejar que Dios establezca su agenda trae gran paz. Vivimos por cinco años en Asia y experimentamos los tifones que son tan comunes en el Océano Índico. Principalmente se mueven en círculos en lugar de partir de este a oeste o de norte a sur. Antes que los navegantes entiendan su movimiento, tratan de maniobrar para salir de la tormenta y a menudo sufren graves destrozos en el proceso. Con una mejor comprensión de los tifones, los navegantes han aprendido a localizar el centro de la tormenta – donde esta totalmente tranquilo – y se van allí. Esto es muy parecido a la oración y el descubrimiento de la agenda de Dios. Cuando oramos, somos capaces de dar la vuelta alrededor de la agenda de Dios y encontrar el centro de Su voluntad. En este lugar, experimentamos su paz. Cuando tratamos de salir de su voluntad, nos encontramos con la destrucción y el caos. A través de la oración y la renovación de nuestra mente en la voluntad de Dios, descubrimos la voluntad perfecta y agradable de Dios (Romanos 12:2).

Tenemos que aprender a orar por todo y confiar en la sabiduría de Dios, que a la sobrepasa a la nuestra. A veces podemos sentir Su dirección y sentir la paz que viene del Espíritu Santo a pesar de que nada puede parecer lógico de acuerdo a nuestro punto de vista humano. Recuerdo un momento en que mi esposo y yo comenzamos a orar por alargar nuestro tiempo de ministerio en el extranjero porque sentíamos que Dios quería que prolongáramos nuestra visita a determinados países. Ya habíamos estado viajando durante dos meses, estábamos cansados, teníamos mucho que hacer en los EE.UU., y mi padre estaba enfermo, por lo que una extensión necesitaba mucha consideración en oración. Había otras razones por las cuales ir a casa habría sido la decisión correcta desde el punto de vista humano. El problema es que a menudo el punto de vista de Dios es diferente al nuestro. Él ve las cosas con mucha antelación y desde Su perspectiva, lo que supera con creces a la nuestra.

A través de la oración, descubrimos la agenda de Dios. Experimentamos su paz en quedarnos por más tiempo, a pesar de que ir a casa habría sido más fácil y parecía más lógico. En este caso, sentimos que teníamos que ir con la guía y la paz del Espíritu Santo. La verdadera clave para nosotros fue la oración y esperar en Dios, escuchando y escuchando Su voz.

Puede que no veamos el cuadro completo de por qué debimos extender nuestro tiempo en el extranjero, pero sí sabemos que había que dar ese paso de fe, lo que fue guiado y empoderado a través de la oración, a fin de obtener lo mejor de Dios. Sabíamos que estábamos en el lugar correcto y que cuando volvimos a casa, habíamos completado lo que Dios tenía para nosotros.

A Dios le gusta escucharnos orar con fervor y luego escuchar y dar un paso de fe de acuerdo a su dirección. Tal vez hay algo por lo que usted necesita que orar de acuerdo con el plan y el propósito de Dios en sus circunstancias actuales. Orando a través de todas las decisiones, escuchando su voz, y apoyándose en su sabiduría le permitirá determinar su agenda. Proverbios 3:5-6 dice: “Fíate de Jehová de todo tu corazón y no te apoyes en tu propia prudencia, reconócelo en todos tus caminos, y él enderezará tus veredas.”

Directrices para Escuchar la Voz de Dios en la Oración

“Pero en cuanto a mí, voy a buscar al Señor y confiando en Él velaré , voy a esperar con ilusión y esperanza en el Dios de mi salvación, mi Dios me escuchará” (Miqueas 7:7, AMP).

¿Cómo podemos escuchar a Dios cuando oramos? Aquí hay algunas pautas que le ayudarán a oír su voz mientras lo busca en la oración:

Bañe a su vida en la oración –Ore acerca de todas las decisiones en su vida diaria. Pídale dirección, de manera que usted pueda cumplir Su voluntad para su vida para ese día. Traiga continuamente las decisiones importantes a Él en oración. Ore, escuche, y espere con esperanza.
Creer que Dios habla a usted –Aceptar la promesa en Juan 10:27: “Mis ovejas oyen mi voz, y yo las conozco, y me siguen.”
Encuentre tiempo para estar a solas con Dios– Tome tiempo para orar y escuchar. La mayor parte de la vida es muy ocupada, pero el tiempo con Él es de suma importancia para que podamos oírle a Él. Frecuentemente, el Señor responde con un pensamiento plantado por su Espíritu en la mente o en el corazón.
Lleve un diario de lo que Dios dice– Podemos evaluar mejor su guía y ver lo que Dios está diciendo cuando llevamos un diario de manera regular. El diario nos ayuda a reflexionar sobre nuestros pensamientos e impresiones para que podamos discernir con claridad el camino que Dios quiere que tomemos.
Prueba lo que escuchas– Lo que creemos que es la voz de Dios puede venir del Espíritu Santo, del enemigo, o de nuestras propias almas. Pídele al Señor confirmar lo que piensas que Él puede estar diciendo. Primera de Juan 4:1 nos exhorta a probar los espíritus. Es bueno buscar la confirmación de al menos otros dos cristianos antes de tomar acción, especialmente en cuanto a grandes decisiones.
Compruebe cuidadosamente toda dirección con las Escrituras – La Palabra de Dios es verdad. Lo que creemos que Dios está hablando debe estar alineado con la Escritura. Es por ello que debemos examinar todo cuidadosamente con la Biblia.
Obedece a Dios– Tenemos que estar dispuestos a actuar en lo que Dios nos ha dicho. Cuando obedecemos a Dios, ahí hay bendición. Si aún dudamos de lo que pensamos que Dios está diciendo, es bueno que siga ‘pidiéndole a Dios su confirmación hasta que sintamos Su paz.

Vamos a seguir estas directrices y practicar el escuchar a Dios. Vamos a aprender a eliminar las distracciones en nuestra vida.
