Jesús miro hacia abajo a aquellos que lo habían clavado a la cruz con crueldad y mofa y aun así gritó: “Padre, perdónalos, porque no saben lo que hacen” (Lucas 23:24). ¿Cómo, pues, podemos negarnos a perdonar a aquellos que han cometido ofensas contra nosotros?”

Hace unos días, tuve el privilegio de estar involucrada en un curso de entrenamiento en Alemania para personas que están sirviendo a Dios en varios países. El curso se llamaba “Cara a cara”. Era acerca de enfrentarse cara a cara con Dios en la intimidad y cara a cara unos con otros. En este curso, enseñé en una sesión acerca del perdón. Conforme enseñaba acerca del perdón, me di cuenta que el perdonar a otros que nos han herido es una elección personal. Perdonar no es fácil, pero a los ojos de Dios, es una de las más grandes demostraciones de la gracia de Dios y del amor de Jesús que cualquiera de nosotros puede llegar a hacer.

Es una de las formas más poderosas de demostrar que Jesús es real en nuestras vidas.

Para poder acercarse a Dios en la intimidad, debemos aprender a nadar en el perdón. La falta de perdón nos mantiene alejados de Dios y estorba nuestra vida de oración. Esto es tremendamente importante para todos los que queremos crecer en la oración y la intercesión. Queremos intimidad con Dios sin ninguna barrera por medio. Pero el elegir perdonar es un acto de la voluntad que va en contra de la naturaleza humana. En lo natural, queremos tomar venganza. Queremos culpar a los demás. Peo hemos de ser conscientes de que el perdonar es un acto tremendamente poderoso. El perdonar es un acto que tiene consecuencias sobrenaturales en nuestras vidas y en las vidas de los demás. Es ciertamente uno de los dones más grandes que podemos ofrecernos los unos a los otros durante esta época de navidad.

Vemos el perdón mostrado en la vida de José. El es un tremendo ejemplo de elegir perdonar a aquellos más cercanos a él que le habían herido profundamente. José tenía todos los motivos para sentir amargura. Vivió en prisión durante años porque sus hermanos lo vendieron como esclavo. Pero eligió perdonar y fue reconciliado con sus hermanos. Él estaba tan lleno de perdón que les rogó a sus hermanos que se perdonasen los unos a los otros. Les dijo lo siguiente: “No entréis en amargura ni os enfadéis con vosotros mismos porque me vendisteis como esclavo; Porque Dios me envió delante de vosotros para salvar vidas… y para manteneros vivos a través de una gran liberación” (Génesis 45:5, 7)

“No había ninguna amargura ni venganza, ni ultimas palabras de ira que precedieran a su perdón. Solo existía el sabor del propio perdón incondicional de Cristo a cada pecador auto-condenado. Asimismo, como José, cada vez que perdonamos, nosotros también preservamos vidas. Restauramos a nuestros hermanos a entereza a través de una ‘gran liberación.’” Francis Frangipane

Estorbos al Perdón

“No existe nada tan enraizado en nuestro corazón que la gracia de Dios no pueda entrar y quitar. Ninguna rea de tu vida es tan dolorosa que la gracia de Dios no la pueda sanar del todo. Ninguna ofensa cometida contra ti es tan ruin que el amor de Dios no te pueda capacitar para perdonar.”

  • Falta de entendimiento acerca de los juicios de Dios y de su justicia – Pensamos que debemos tomar el asunto en nuestras propias manos. Si no pensamos que los demás han sido castigados adecuadamente, intentamos ayudar a Dios. Debemos dejar el tratar los asuntos en manos de Dios, y ser conscientes de que Jesús es el Juez, El toma el castigo, y El sana al ofendido.
  • Orgullo en nuestra vida – Queremos tener razón. No pensamos que los demás merezcan perdón. Pensamos que no hay necesidad de perdonar.
  • No estar dispuesto a enfrentarse con el dolor de la ofensa – Puede que no sepamos que podemos traer el dolor a Jesús. “Pero El herido fue por nuestras transgresiones, molido por nuestras iniquidades; el castigo de nuestra paz fue sobre El, y por Sus llagas fuimos sanados” (Isaías 53:5).
  • Amargura en nuestro corazón – Puede que nos aferremos a la venganza y queramos castigar. Pero recordemos que la amargura y la falta de perdón nos ata al ofensor. Debemos cortar la cuerda y dejarle marchar, para que podamos nosotros ser liberados.
  • No tomar lo suficiente en serio el pecado – Puede que racionalicemos o expliquemos. Debemos enfrentarnos con el cómo hemos sido heridos y no tomarlo a la ligera.

Recuerda, elegir perdonar es un acto de la voluntad contra la naturaleza humana. Necesitamos la ayuda de Dios para perdonar. Todos añoramos un encuentro cara a cara con Dios. Que Dios nos de a cada uno la gracia de animar a perdonar y de liberar a las personas nosotros mismos. Es la única forma de andar en gozo. Es la vida de Jesús demostrada aquí en la tierra. Esta es una serie de 3 partes acerca del perdón.
