Una verdad a tener en mente es que la luz que brilla más en el extranjero es la que más brilla en casa. El Apóstol Pablo pedía a la gente que orasen por él. Él vinculaba el éxito a la fidelidad en la oración de la iglesia. Habló acerca de los sufrimientos que soportaba, de que estaba bajo tremenda presión y en temor incluso por su vida. Pero también especificó que Dios lo había liberado a través de las oraciones de los demás. Una de las cosas más importantes que uno puede hacer por un misionero es orar. Hay una enorme conexión entre la oración y las misiones. Pablo dice en 2ª Corintios 1:10-11:

“El cual nos libró, y nos libra, y en quien esperamos que aun nos librará, de tan gran muerte; cooperando también vosotros a favor nuestro con la oración, para que por muchas personas sean dadas gracias a favor nuestro por el don concedido a nosotros por medio de muchos.”

Existe un vinculo inseparable entre la oración aquí y el éxito en el extranjero. Quizás esta carta es tan importante para mí en el presente porque mi esposo esta ahora mismo viajando en los países de El Salvador, México y Guatemala. El trabajo misionero es a veces traicionero como en el ejemplo de la desesperada necesidad de oración que tenía Pablo. Hace un par de días mi esposo, Norm, estaba viajando de El Salvador a México. El viaje duró 38 horas, y llegó a Mexico enfermo y cansado. Llegó a Ciudad de México a media noche solo para descubrir que su contacto no apareció en el aeropuerto para llevarlo en coche otras dos horas y media a su destino. Estaba perdido buscando una habitación de hotel ¡y casi le roban! En una situación peligrosa, dijo que tenía dos angeles vestidos como guardas para ayudarle. Al final sí llegó sano y salvo a su destino. Yo estaba orando en casa al igual que otros.

La vida del misionero puede ser tremendamente dificil a veces y a veces peligrosa. Sin el fervor de la oración de aquellos en casa, a un misionero se le puede apetecer rendirse. Las batallas son demasiado intensas para manejarlas solo. No hay palabras para expresar cuanto se necesitan tus oraciones.

“La iglesia en casa, de rodillas, en ayunos y oración, es la gran base del suministro espiritual, lo sinuoso de la guerra, y el clamor de victoria en es durísimo y ultimo conflicto. Los recursos financieros no son el verdadero músculo de la guerra en esta lucha. La maquinaria en sí no conlleva poder para romper paredes paganas, abrir puertas efectivas, y ganar corazones paganos para Cristo. Solo la oración puede llevar a cabo esto.” E. M. Bounds

Norm y yo hemos sido misioneros a largo plazo. Aprendimos acerca de la intercesión en nuestros años en ultramar. Nuestro ministerio se llama Elijah Company, Inc. Entrenamos, animamos, y somos mentores de misioneros e intercesores. Intercesores Arriba esta bajo el abrigo de la Elijah Company. Creemos que las misiones y la intercesión son inseparables. Por favor orad por los misioneros en todo el mundo. Por favor orad en fe y consistencia. Recuerda ejercer autoridad sobre Satanás, y alaba a Dios por la contestación a tus oraciones.

Como Orar con Efectividad por los Misioneros

“Dios siempre le da a Sus siervos poder equivalente al trabajo que les encomienda. Piensa en la grandeza y la dificultad de este trabajo – Sacar a Satanás de sus fortalezas – y ora pidiendo que todo aquel que tome parte en ello reciba y haga todo el trabajo en el poder del Espíritu Santo. Piensa en las dificultades de tus misioneros, y ora por ellos.”

Los misioneros necesitan oraciones a diario. De la lista a continuación, podrás ver las dificultades a las que se enfrentan y el porqué necesitan oración continua.   • Relación con Dios – Ora pidiendo una profunda hambre de Dios, por sus estudios de la Palabra y por su vida de oración. Ora pidiendo que habiten en Cristo a diario y que experimenten todos los días la victoria sobre los ataques de Satanás.
  • Ajustes y adaptación – Ora por los misioneros con respecto a las sensaciones negativas durante el choque cultural como el desánimo, la soledad y la depresión. Ora por su estabilidad, descanso, y relajación en todas las areas de la vida. Ora pidiendo paciencia durante la adaptación.
  • Salud – Ora en contra de ataques sobre sus cuerpos y pidiendo buena salud en medio del vivir diario en zonas donde hay enfermedades alrededor. El calor puede drenar a un misionero de energías. Pide la protección de la sangre de Cristo sobre sus cuerpos.
  • Protección de la mente – Ora por la protección sobre sus mentes y por la rotura de fortalezas del enemigo en sus vidas. Ora pidiendo que los misioneros se nieguen a escuchar las mentiras del enemigo a pesar de la opresión y circunstancias difíciles. Dardos de fuego a la mente son contínuos.
  • Relaciones – Ora pidiendo amor y perdón en sus relaciones con otros misioneros y con los nacionales. El motivo principal por el cual los misioneros se marchan del campo misionero es la rotura de relaciones. Ora pidiendo unidad, y ora el salmo 133 sobre los misioneros.
  • Unción de Dios en el ministerio – Ora pidiendo la unción de Dios en todo aquello que el misionero hace. Ora que ande en el espíritu en todas las situaciones y que dependa de la sabiduría, poder y habilidad de Dios y no en la suya propia. Ora por una actitud de humildad y quebrantamiento.
  • Ejercitar autoridad sobre Satanás – Ora pidiendo que el misionero ejercerá autoridad sobre Satanás en el país en el que trabaja. Ora por sus ánimos y fuerzas y que sepa cómo resistir las acusaciones y oposición del enemigo.
  • Por avivamiento en la tierra – Ora pidiendo que el Espíritu de Dios se mueva en poder en la tierra donde trabaja. Pide favor para el misionero y que las almas sean liberadas de la atadura a Satanás y que muchos sean salvos.
  • Ora por su familia – Ora pidiendo unidad familiar, seguridad y salud. Ora por buenas relaciones marido y mujer. Ora por los niños con respecto a su educación y crecimiento en el Señor. Ora pidiendo que la familia sea un tremendo testimonio a los inconversos y un excelente modelo para los nacionales.
  • Habilidad para comunicar – Ora por las dificultades en el aprendizaje del idioma. Ora pidiendo que el amor de Cristo brille a través de sus vidas y que hablen con valor y claridad. Ora pidiendo corazones abiertos, oportunidades, y fruto. Que sepan relacionarse a las necesidades culturales.
