The apostle John gazes on 15 dimensions of the transcendent beauty of the Father’s Throne.

“I was in the Spirit; and behold, a throne set in heaven, and One sat on the throne. And He who sat there was like a jasper and a sardius stone in appearance; and there was a rainbow around the throne, in appearance like an emerald. Around the throne were twenty-four thrones, and on the thrones I saw twenty-four elders sitting, clothed in white robes; and they had crowns of gold on their heads. And from the throne proceeded lightnings, thunderings, and voices. Seven lamps of fire were burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God. Before the throne there was a sea of glass, like crystal. In the midst of the throne, and around the throne, were four living creatures full of eyes. The first living creature was like a lion, the 2nd was like a calf, the 3rd had a face like a man, and the 4th was like a flying eagle. The four living creatures, each having six wing . . . they do not rest day or night, saying: ‘Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!'”
(Revelation 4:2-8).

The apostle John sees the Jesus in the glory of His resurrected humanity.

“I heard a loud voice, as of a trumpet, saying, ‘I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last,’ . . . I saw 7 golden lampstands, in the midst of the 7 lampstands One like the Son of Man, clothed with a garment down to the feet and girded about the chest with a golden band. His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and His eyes like a flame of fire; His feet were like fine brass, as if refined in a furnace, and His voice as the sound of many waters. He had in His right hand 7 stars, out of His mouth went a sharp two-edged sword, and His countenance was like the sun shining in its strength. When I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead. He laid His right hand on me, saying, ‘Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last. I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death'”
(Revelation 1:10-18).

John sees the Bridegroom King with the saints making war against the nations that rebel against God.

“… heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war. His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself. He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. The armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses. Out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS” (Revelation 19:11-16).

The Holy Spirit shows John the Eternal Bridal City.

“I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. I heard a loud voice . . . saying, ‘Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God.’ And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain. He who sat on the throne said, ‘Behold, I make all things new.’ He said, ‘It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts. He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son. (the angel said), ‘I will show you the bride, the Lamb’s wife.’ He showed me the great city, the holy Jerusalem . . . having the glory of God. Her light was like a most precious stone, like a jasper stone, clear as crystal. She had a great and high wall. The construction of its wall was of jasper; and the city was pure gold, like clear glass. The foundations of the wall of the city were adorned with all kinds of precious stones: jasper, sapphire, chalcedony, emerald, sardonyx, sardius, chrysolite, beryl, topaz, chrysoprase, jacinth, and amethyst. The 12 gates were 12 pearls . . . the street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass . . . for the glory of God illuminated it. THE LAMB IS ITS LIGHT (Revelation 21:2-24).

“He showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the middle of its street . . . was the tree of life . . . His servants shall serve Him. THEY SHALL SEE HIS FACE, and His name shall be on their foreheads . . . the Lord God gives them light. And they shall reign forever and ever” (Rev. 22:1-5).

Daniel sees the Father’s Throne and Jesus’ victory with the saints over the Antichrist’s kingdom at end of the age.

“I watched till thrones were put in place, and the Ancient of Days was seated; His garment was white as snow, and the hair of His head was like pure wool. His throne was a fiery flame, its wheels a burning fire; A fiery stream issued and came forth from before Him. A thousand thousands ministered to Him; 10,000 times 10,000 stood before Him . . . behold, One like the Son of Man, coming with the clouds of heaven! He came to the Ancient of Days, and they brought Him near before Him. Then to Him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, that all peoples, nations, and languages should serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and His kingdom the one which shall not be destroyed . . . the saints of the Most High shall receive the kingdom, and possess the kingdom forever, even forever and ever. . . the same horn was making war against the saints, and prevailing against them . . . until the Ancient of Days came, and a judgment was made in favor of the saints of the Most High, and the time came for the saints to possess the kingdom. He . . . shall persecute the saints of the Most High . . . Then the saints shall be given into his hand for a time . . . But the court shall be seated, and they shall take away his dominion . . . Then the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people, the saints of the Most High” (Revelation 7:9-27).

Isaiah sees the Lord high and lifted up.

“I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple. Above it stood seraphim; each had 6 wings: with 2 he covered his face, with 2 he covered his feet, and with 2 he flew. And one cried to another and said: ‘HOLY, HOLY, HOLY IS THE LORD OF HOSTS; THE WHOLE EARTH IS FULL OF HIS GLORY!’ And the posts of the door were shaken by the voice of him who cried out, and the house was filled with smoke. So I said: ‘Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.’ Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a live coal which he had taken with the tongs from the altar. And he touched my mouth with it, and said: ‘Behold, this has touched your lips; your iniquity is taken away, and your sin purged.’ I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: ‘Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?’ Then I said, ‘Here am I! Send me.’ He said, ‘Go, and tell this people . . .'” (Isaiah 6:1-9).

Ezekiel sees the glory of Jesus on His Throne.

“… behold, a whirlwind coming out of the north, a great cloud with raging fire engulfing itself; and brightness was all around it and radiating out of its midst like the color of amber, out of the midst of the fire. . . from within it came . . . 4 living creatures. They sparkled like the color of burnished bronze . . . their appearance was like burning coals of fire, and like . . . torches. Fire was going back and forth among the living creatures; the fire was bright, and out of the fire went lightning. The living creatures ran back and forth, in appearance like a flash of lightning. The likeness of the firmament above . . . the living creatures was like the color of an awesome crystal . . . Above the firmament . . . was the likeness of A THRONE, in appearance like a sapphire stone; on the likeness of the Throne was . . . the appearance of A MAN high above it. His waist and upward I saw . . . the color of amber with . . . fire all around within it; and from . . . His waist and downward . . . fire with brightness all around. Like . . . a RAINBOW in a cloud on a rainy day, so was the appearance of the brightness all around it. This was the . . . likeness of the glory of the Lord . . . I fell on my face (above . . . the cherubim . . . like a sapphire stone, having the appearance of the likeness of a throne” (Ezekiel 10:1, 1:4-28).

Moses asks to see God’s glory then God reveals His glory by proclaiming His Name to Moses.

“And he said, ‘Please, show me Your glory.’ Then He said, ‘I will make all My goodness pass before you, and I will proclaim the Name of the LORD before you . . . (Ex. 34) the LORD descended in the cloud and stood with him there, and proclaimed the Name of the LORD. The LORD passed before him and proclaimed, ‘The LORD, the LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth, keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children” (Exodus 33:18-19; 34:5-7).

Prayers For More Personal Revelation Of God

cropped-cropped-12391190_1070125036383936_584139198323956590_n-2.jpg An apostolic intercessory benediction to be established with insight into the mystery.

“Now to Him who is able TO ESTABLISH YOU according to my gospel . . . according to the revelation of the mystery kept secret since the world began but now has been made manifest, and by the prophetic Scriptures has been made known to all nations, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, for obedience to the faith – to God, alone wise, be glory through Jesus Christ forever” (Romans 16:25-27).

Prayers to grow in grace and knowledge of God.

“GRACE AND PEACE BE MULTIPLIED TO YOU IN THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOD and of Jesus our Lord, as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue . . . grow in the grace and KNOWLEDGE OF OUR LORD and Savior Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 1:2,3; 3:18).

The Bride’s prayer for Jesus’ Coming.

“And the Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come!’ . . . He who testifies to these things says, ‘Surely I am coming quickly. Amen. EVEN SO, COME, LORD JESUS!'” (Revelation 22:17, 20).

Apostolic Intercession – intercession for citywide revival combined with continual worship. Prophetic singers sing antiphonally with the intercessors.

Prophetic Intercession – intercession based on discerning prophetic themes of the Holy Spirit for each meeting with a secondary use of singers.

Worship with the Word – a new worship format in the form of a “prophetic liturgy.” Emphasizing corporate worship directly from two different types of Scripture 1) Prophetic Cantata from the Song of Solomon in which we sing through the Song of Solomon phrase by phrase interpreting each truth. 2) Psalmody Worship (Psalms or the Hymns of Revelation) in which we sing directly from the Psalms or the hymns of Revelation. Psalmody is the practice of singing psalms in divine worship. The arranging of psalms for singing in worship – This worship format was used in 1000’s of monasteries throughout history.

Devotional Worship – worship teams providing an anointed atmosphere for personal devotions and bible study etc. No open mike for intercession.

Prophetic Worship – the integration of the previous four formats, with the inclusion of ministry time.

Harmony In Song And Intercession

10259321_1071106532952453_5814208157818095195_n-2 “In the unity of faith, love, and the Spirit, the power of the name and of the presence of Jesus acts more freely, and the answer comes more surely. The evidence that there has been true, united prayer is the fruit – the answer, the receiving of the thing for which we have asked. ‘I say unto you… it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.’ What an extraordinary privilege united prayer (and worship) is! What a potential power it has!” Andrew Murray

There is a harmony that God is creating among His people throughout the earth, and you and I are a part of it. This harmony that is beginning is powerful as 24-7 prayer is spreading from city to city and nation to nation. And within the circle of prayer that you are involved in, creating this harmony is of extreme importance. The enemy loves to bring disharmony and disunity, but the new thing God is creating is a beautiful song of unity that will break through tremendous spiritual strongholds of the enemy.

So as you attempt harmony in your own prayer room, remember you are part of a bigger whole that will bring tremendous effect in the spirit realm all throughout the earth. And in your city in particular, you are the ones called to bring the release and freedom of the Kingdom of God into your sphere of influence. This is absolutely exciting.

“Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them” (Matthew 18:19-20).

God is a musical God, and He has created us as people who function best when there is a song in our heart. Music motivates us. The greatest entertainment in the world is music, because the human spirit is musical. There is power released in song. If you question this, for some of you in mid-life, think back to the songs you heard on the radio as a teenager. If the music comes on the radio now, you know the words to the songs just as if it were yesterday.

The devil wants to rule the domain of music because he knows that there is power in it. This is why intercession combined with music and the Word is a dynamic combination and of utmost importance at this time. When the Word of Christ dwells in our hearts richly through psalms, hymns and spiritual songs, nothing will stop us from God’s purposes in our lives both individually and corporately. Music combined with words of truth move us deeply into spheres of active commitment that we would never imagine otherwise.

“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God” (Colossians 3:16).

Antiphonal Singing

“Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ”
(Ephesians 5:19-20).

Antiphonal singing is responsive singing. The antiphonal singers interact with the intercessors and musicians in singing the Word. 24-7 prayer is team ministry where the team works together. Nobody gets the spotlight except God Himself. This is the beautiful thing that God is doing with his end-times Church. He is beginning to get all the glory. Therefore everyone takes part in 24-7, and nobody takes the spotlight. Everyone gives way to one another because there is the understanding that all of us in harmony are better than one of us alone.

This is a learning experience for some of us who like to be up front because we are good musicians or strong intercessors. We realize that we must give way to others. But in the end God brings a beautiful harmony that we couldn’t have done on our own. There is no more room for lengthy ten-minute prayers or a personal concert showing off our musical talents. No, it is all for God and Him alone, an audience of one, and we all work together to bring about His will in the prayer room for His glory.

It is time that we join in unison as with one voice.

“The trumpeters and singers joined in unison, as with one voice, to give praise and thanks to the Lord. Accompanied by trumpets, cymbals and other instruments, they raised their voices in praise to the Lord and sang: ‘He is good; his love endures forever.’ Then the temple was filled with a cloud, and the priests could not perform their service because of the cloud, for the glory of the Lord filled the temple of God”
(2 Chronicles 5:13-14).

God will invade your prayer environment with His presence and power. This will eventually spill over into your city and nation. This team ministry is God’s end-time way. He uses musicians, antiphonal singers, spoken intercession and proclamation. Worship and prayer become dynamic. It makes prayer enjoyable and not boring. It brings about intensity without exhaustion. And revelation takes place right in the midst of it all. Every meeting becomes a joyous occasion. I say this because I see it happening and personally experience it myself. I have seen worshippers and intercessors come in with the burdens of the week and leave with the joy of the Lord. Some find it hard to wait until the next prayer meeting.

This corporate setting for 24-7 is so important because there needs to be an actual place where God’s presence dwells because the world is getting uglier by the day, and we need this breath of fresh air to carry us through with power. This also enhances our own prayer times during the week.

24-7 “harp and bowl” prayer is not a burden; it is a gift of God for the end-times church.

Singing and praying the Word partners with God’s heart. The worldwide prayer movement needs to learn that this is key in the final days. The Word of God provides fuel for prayer and keeps it alive. His Word is His will. Praying the Word connects with the singers in singing the Word, and there is a powerful interaction that takes place.

I am an intercessor and when the singers sing what I have prayed, it moves me into more intensity and faith in my next prayer, and this goes on and on. The prayers and singing together rise up to a new level. This really does happen in a most marvelous way. You will see it yourself as you begin. There is no greater strength than the power of the Church with one heart and one goal united before the throne. The diversity of types of intercessors, the diversity of different musicians, and different singers intensifies this oneness.

It’s powerful, it’s dynamic, and it inspires awe in God because He creates it, and it’s all of Him.

“Christians cannot reach the full blessing God is ready to bestow through His Spirit until they seek and receive it in fellowship with one another. It was to the hundred and twenty praying together in full agreement under the same roof that the Spirit came from the throne of the glorified Lord. In the same way, it is in the union and fellowship of believers that the Spirit can manifest His full power.” Andrew Murray

What happens when intercession and singing is combined? When these two come together with the Word, then revelation increases, the intercession hits the mark, the body of Christ is encouraged and empowered, and evangelism takes place as one leaves the prayer room.

As I left a prayer meeting for Israel, I went to the post office. I could not contain the joy from that prayer time and began to witness to a woman standing in line. She accepted the Lord on the spot and two other Christians standing in line were greatly encouraged. I felt the glory of the Lord in that post office. 24-7 prayer is definitely going to lead to dynamic evangelism because the human heart will not be able nor want to contain what happens in the prayer room.

5 Keys in Antiphonal Singing

“They held harps given them by God and sang the song of Moses the servant of God and the song of the Lamb: ‘Great and marvelous are your deeds, Lord God Almighty. Just and true are your ways, King of the ages” (Revelation 15:2-3).

  • Sing short – This is not the time for singing a whole song. Short phrases are the key and should be only a few words in length.
  • Stay on the same theme – Keep with the theme that is prayed in the Word.
  • Pay close attention to what is happening – Remember you are a team, and the Holy Spirit will give you a natural flow. It may take time but stay in tune with what is happening.
  • Sing one at a time – This will keep from confusion. Antiphonal singers alternate in their singing. The prayer meetings I have been involved with usually have three or four antiphonal singers. Especially in learning, it is good to go from one to the next and then the next.
  • Echo phrase, paraphrase, repeat or develop the phrase – The singer may want to sing exactly the same phrase as the last singer or what the intercessor prayed. A repeated phrase can be powerful. A singer may want to paraphrase or summarize the phrase. He may want to develop the phrase by expanding the same idea or repeat a phrase for impact

“And when he had taken it, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp and they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. And they sang a new song: ‘You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased men for God from every tribe and language and people and nation” (Revelation 5:8-9).

24/7 Prayer Prepares The Church for Revival

“It was praying that rent the heavens; praying that received direct answers there and then. The spirit of intercession was so mightily poured out that the whole congregation would take part simultaneously for hours! Strangers were startled to hear the young and unlettered pray with such unction and intelligence as they were swept up to the Throne of Grace by the Spirit of God. Worship and adoration was unbounded. Praise began to mingle with the petitions as answered prayer was demonstrated before their very eyes.” James Stewart

Fervent prayer prepares the way for revival. Day and night intercession and worship is a big key to revival. The combination of intercession and worship was a major part of the past revivals in history. Why are extended times of prayer so important? There are so many reasons. Prayer changes us, it sets us free from worldly pursuits, it opens the way for uninterrupted time with God, it builds unity, it gives us a burden for what is on God’s heart, it brings us into deeper humility and repentance, it draws us closer to God and brings revelation, it teaches us the Word, and it brings answers to prayer. The benefits are vast.

In all my studies about revival, I have seen that day and night intense, earnest prayer was one of the major keys found in all revivals. And it was prayer and worship together that brought the power of God to earth in a mighty outpouring of His Spirit.

Unity Created by the Spirit of God

God brings forth beautiful, spontaneous worship and when blended with prayer, it becomes a powerful weapon of His glory. I find this to be true as God’s people grow more familiar with the “Harp and Bowl” model (the model of Biblical prayer combined with worship and antiphonal singing). The Biblical prayers bring forth the antiphonal singing, singer adds to singer, and a beautiful unity comes forth as the very Word and will of God are prayed through the Holy Spirit. I have been in several IHOP prayer meetings. Each one is unique and powerful, testifying to the creativity of God’s Spirit. Here is a testimony taken from the Welsh revival of 1904 of how powerful worship and praise was to the spirit of God.

“The fact is, unless heard, it is unimaginable and when heard indescribable. There was no hymnbook. No one gave out a hymn. Just anyone would start the singing, and very rarely did it happen that the hymn started was out of harmony with the mood at the moment. Once started, as if moved by a simultaneous impulse, the hymn was caught up by the whole congregation almost as if what was about to be sung had been announced and all were responding to the baton of an invisible human leader. I have seen nothing like it. Such was the perfect blending of the mood and purpose that it bore eloquent testimony to a unity created only by the Spirit of God. Another witness testified: ‘The praying and singing were both wonderful. There was no need for an organ. The assembly was its own organ as a thousand sorrowing or rejoicing hearts found expression in the Psalmody of their native hills.'”

Not only is there a beautiful unity through the spontaneous worship created by the Spirit. In the same way, there is a beautiful unity when worship and prayer with the Word of God are combined. There is great strength in praying the Word of God. It heightens our awareness of the mind and heart of God. It adds tremendous strength and authority to our prayers.

How the Combination of Prayer and Worship Prepares the Way for Revival

“May the praise of God be in their mouths and a double-edged sword in their hands, to inflict vengeance on the nations and punishment on the peoples… to carry out the sentence against them. This is the glory of all his saints. Praise the Lord”
(Psalm 149:6, 7, 9).

How does 24-7 prayer and worship prepare the way for revival? Why is the combination of prayer and worship in 24/7 prayer so important? When we praise God and use His double-edged sword (the Word of God) in intercession, vengeance is inflicted on the nations. Vengeance is God’s just retribution on those who have attacked his Kingdom. We are at war, and God’s Kingdom is under attack. The combination of worship and prayer releases God’s judgment against sin and rebellion on earth. It opens the way for revival.

Never has there been a revival without extended times of intensive prayer. We will never see the final world revival ushering in the second coming of Christ without 24-7 prayer in the nations. Here are some reasons why the combination of prayer and worship help in extended times of passionate prayer that is so key for revival.

  • It brings us into the reality of heaven – We must realize that worship and prayer are combined together in heaven around the throne of God. We are in the process of bringing heaven to earth in our cities and nations. We are copying what heaven is doing by combining the interaction of the harp (worship) with the bowls of incense (prayers). See Revelation 5:8.
  • It unlocks our hearts – I find it so true personally how the atmosphere of worship and praise opens my heart in a greater dimension to fervent intercession and a greater passion for Christ and His ways. I cannot help but move to a higher level in my intercession when praise and worship are combined. I find this true corporately as well in 24-7 prayer meetings.
  • It increases our faith – I have seen and experienced how the singers fuel the intercessors, and the intercessors fuels the singers until all seem to move into a higher realm of faith. The Word of God is prayed with greater certainty, with deeper passion, and with an unquenchable faith.
  • It attracts us to enjoyable prayer – There is no doubt about it. God wants us to enjoy prayer. There is no way we can move into day and night prayer without an enjoyment of it. It is much too hard and strenuous a work. We need our hearts to say, “Yes, I want to do this! Yes, our city can get into this because God is making it enjoyable.” “The Lord will release joyful or enjoyable prayer to His church. Enjoyable prayer is prayer that will continue night and day (Luke 18:8). Enjoyable prayer is not necessary for prayer ministries meeting once a week but it is vital for prayer ministries going 24 hours a day.”
  • It increases our perseverance in prayer – Many times I have heard people say that the time goes by so quickly. There seems to be an ability and grace to pray for longer lengths of time when prayer and worship are combined. Many who find it hard to pray for any length of time suddenly are able to spend hours in the prayer room.
  • It brings forth an anointing for spiritual warfare – The atmosphere of day and night prayer and worship combined breaks the hold of the enemy in cities. It opens the way for a freedom for the proclamation of the Gospel. The Kingdom of God invades the territory. The combination of prayer and worship releases God’s justice as seen in the verses above. Praise and worship combined with prayer is a powerful combination and a mighty force against the kingdom of darkness. We come into agreement with God’s heart.

“There is an irrefutable law in history that revival (justice) is released in a measure whenever night and day worship and intercession are offered. Wherever night and day prayer has emerged in history there is always a Divine breakout of speedy justice. It cannot be stopped.”

God is giving a special grace and an increase in prayer at this time in preparation for the end-time revival. Some of us are just beginning to get started. Don’t be overwhelmed. A momentum is building and a spirit of prayer and worship is being released across the earth. My suggestion to you is to start small.

You can purchase harp and bowl worship through the IHOP bookstore or listen to the IHOPKC web stream.  I am part of IHOPKC and spend lots of hours in the prayer room. I also play the IHOPKC web stream in the atmosphere of my home. Some people like to play it all day long. This will bring you into the atmosphere of what prayer combined with worship is like. It will create a hunger in your soul and an excitement in your heart for praying the Word of God. And it will begin to touch your church and city with the atmosphere of heaven. It will prepare you and your city for revival.

“Intercession is agreement with what God promises to do. Intercession is expressed by declaring what He will do. In heaven the worship and intercession flow as one river. When we tell God who He is then our faith expands with the revelation of the transcendent God of power and beauty. Then when we agree with what he will do in intercession we do it in great faith.” Unnamed quotes by Mike Bickle

By Debbie Przybylski

24/7 Prayer Advances the Gospel

“If Christians prayed as Christians ought – with strong commanding faith, with earnestness and sincerity – men, God-called men, God-empowered men everywhere, would be burning to go and spread the Gospel worldwide. The Word of the Lord would run and be glorified as never known heretofore. The God-influenced men, the God-inspired men, the God-commissioned men, would go and kindle the flame of sacred fire for Christ, salvation, and heaven, everywhere in all nations. Soon all men would hear the glad tidings of salvation and have an opportunity to receive Jesus Christ as their personal Savior.”

24-7 prayer ignites the power of God to release the fire of the Gospel throughout the earth. Every nation, every city, every people group, every neighborhood cannot miss the tremendous influence of the atmosphere of prayer released from the 24-7 prayer room. There is something deep and far-reaching that happens when God’s people give themselves to day and night intercession in a given location. It cannot be measured by human means, but its’ dynamic power can set the fire of God loose in a nation in a way that is beyond comprehension.

In the past I have heard of evangelists going to a region, locking themselves in a hotel room, praying unceasingly for days, and then going out and sharing the Gospel with incredible results. If one man can see that happen, imagine the effect when the Church worldwide gives itself to prayer and actually makes prayer its primary business. Then we shall surely see things happen! None of us have gotten there yet, but it certainly should be our highest ambition and shall take a primary role as we see the days unfold before us.

God is raising up Anna’s across the earth, individuals who will give themselves to day and night prayer. Anna in the Bible, though very old, worshiped God night and day almost all her life. “She was very old; she had lived with her husband seven years after her marriage, and then was a widow until she was eighty-four. She never left the temple but worshiped night and day, fasting and praying” (Luke 2:36b-37). God is raising up intercessory missionaries who pray night and day.

Last week I heard about how 13 young people were being trained to pray from about 8:00 PM – 3:00 AM at a 24-7 House of Prayer. They were training their bodies to adjust to a new time schedule so that they could give themselves to prayer in the night season. God is bringing the entire body of Christ to a higher level of prayer. The commitment of this group of young people to be God’s watchmen should stimulate each one of us to give ourselves to prayer, whether it is in the day or the night. The urgency of the hour and the present emphasis on prayer makes 24-7 prayer a possibility in this generation. We cannot do without intercession. The need is too great.

“While I am very excited about what is happening, yet as an intercessor, I can never forget that over half of the world’s population has never heard of Jesus. The task ahead is still enormous. As darkness covers the earth in the last days and darkens the people, the glory of the Lord will shine brighter and brighter, brighter and brighter in the face of a people who love Him absolutely and uncompromisingly. In this way, the whole world will know that there is a God who reigns in the Heavens and man will be left without excuse on the day of Christ’s appearing. The Spirit is still heralding a call for watchmen to join the great choir of intercessors.”

How 24-7 Prayer is Advancing Worldwide

“The worldwide prayer movement implements a specific process when establishing prayer watches. Churches, towns, cities, countries and continents are mobilized to stand before God’s throne 24 hours a day to praise and worship Him, and to plead for the nations. Intercessors pray for revival in the church and for world evangelization, as well as for transformation and healing of cities and countries. In this way the Great Commandment and the Great Commission are carried out.” Jericho Walls, South Africa

24-hour prayer watches have been increasing since the beginning of 1990. They are spreading worldwide. By 1995, there were a few dozen but within 10 years, it has grown to a few thousand. One way this can starts is as individual churches begin praying for 24 hours at least once a week and then extend to more hours systematically. Churches can then come together with other churches that are doing the same thing. This grows into a 24-7-365 day prayer watch that goes all year. This needs to happen in every country in the world and every major city.

Examples of Worldwide Expansion

“The only condition that is to give worldwide power to this Gospel is prayer, and the spread of this Gospel will depend on prayer. The energy that is to give it marvelous momentum and conquering power over all its malignant and powerful foes is the energy of prayer.”

  • Uganda – Since 1995, World Trumpet Mission and Watchman intercessors Network have helped to establish 24-hour prayer watches in 43 districts in Uganda.
  • Jerusalem – There was a House of Prayer for all Nations established by Tom Hess in 1987 in order to pray for the peace of Jerusalem and for the nations. The Gates of Jerusalem Watch is part of this where 12 prayer teams pray daily for 2 hours at the 12 gates of Jerusalem. During the past 10 years, several other prayer watches have been established in Israel.
  • Germany – The Watchman’s Call Initiative was started in early 2000 where every city must pray for the German nation, the salvation of the people, their needs and government one 24-hour day per month. By the end of 2002, there were more than 300 cities involved in this prayer watch.
  • Indonesia – Prayer towers have been established in more than 500 cities in Indonesia. About 5 million intercessors from all over the country are bound together in a network. The intercessors cover a week 24-7, where 16 or more full-time intercessors take shifts of 4 hours a day. Others also join in.
  • England – A Million Hours of Praise was started by Cathryn Hall in England that developed into day and night praise and worship. Worship teams from all over the world are encouraged to get involved in this movement.
  • South Korea – There are prayer mountains throughout South Korea where people can go up into the mountains to pray day and night. Many go to these places to fast up to 40 days as well.

This is only a small taste of what is happening worldwide in the area of prayer. God is creative, and we see the unique ways he initiates day and night prayer in different nations.

Practical Guidelines When Considering 24-7 Prayer in your City

Prayerfully consider the following when starting 24-7 prayer in your city:

  • A Small, Consistent Start – It is good to start small and be consistent than to try to plan a big 24-7 and quit. What is needed for seven days is quite different than 365 days year in and year out. More personnel are needed for a 365-day prayer watch.
  • A Faithful Team – Many different individuals with various gifts are needed in a 24-7 House of Prayer. A general coordinator, a daily coordinator, an administrative team and office, a way to collect prayer material, and make it available to intercessors, a team to clean and decorate the prayer room, someone to work out the prayer times, etc.
  • Dedicated Intercessors and Worshippers – Pray that God will raise up intercessors to pray as well as worship leaders, singers, etc.
  • Careful Planning and Clear Guidance – You must also think about the ongoing process of recruiting new intercessors and maintaining the 24-7 House of Prayer. Ask God continually for guidance, and wait for His Spirit to lead.
  • Training and Motivating Intercessors – It is easy for intercessors to get discouraged so provide ongoing encouragement through seminars, training, and finding ways to minister to the intercessors.

“If men would pray as they ought to pray, the marvels of the past would be more than reproduced. The Gospel would advance with a facility and power it has never known. Doors would be thrown open to the Gospel, and the Word of God would have a conquering force rarely if ever known before.” Unnamed quotes by E. M. Bounds

Raising Up Young Prayer Warriors

boy_8_x_10“When we train our children how to pray we must begin teaching them why and how we pray. But teaching them how is more than just giving the facts; this will be empty and infective unless we ourselves are devoted to prayer. If we come to the place of maturity in prayer where it is a living and a true love of our life, our teaching on it will come from our ‘innermost being’, our hearts… If we ourselves have a passion for prayer, when we pray our children will become infected with the same passion.” Rick Joyner

Do you realize that God is raising up young prayer warriors? Children are learning to pray and in a most powerful manner. There is a growing emphasis in ministries and churches to train children to pray. The incredible thing about children is that they have a simple, childlike faith. This type of faith is what is so desperately needed in the prayer movement. Children just believe. They pray from trusting hearts. They believe that God hears their prayers. God reveals truth to them. We need to tap into the powerful prayers of children. We can humbly learn from their childlike faith and trust.

“And he (Jesus) said, ‘I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. There-fore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 18:3-4).

The Bible speaks of several children who had a heart for God and for prayer. Jesus, Himself, wanted to be in His Father’s house when he was twelve years old. Josiah was a king at the age of eight who turned to the Lord with all his heart, soul and strength (2 Kings 23:25). Samuel heard God’s voice as a young boy.

“And the boy Samuel continued to grow in stature and favor with the Lord and with men” (1 Samuel 2:26).

Children need to be cultivated in prayer. If we want to be in tune with God’s plan for this time, then we must take the effort to train children in the ministry of prayer. This training in prayer must come from the passion of our own hearts. We must be dedicated to prayer. We must model our love relationship with God to children. It will never work to teach them about prayer and not practice it ourself.

I have been personally blessed during worship services when I have watched little girls following adult dancers in worship and praise. Their dancing is glorifying to the Lord, and they dance with incredible ease as they watch and learn from the adults. We read in Matthew 21:16, “From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise.” I have also been blessed when well-behaved, small children were allowed to stay in the main service during evening meetings that sometimes lasted late. They brought their little sleeping bags and pillows, books and crayons, and went to sleep right beside their parents when it got late. I am sure they learned so much as they watched and participated in the worship and prayer.

“Training is more than just teaching. You can teach a man how to fly an airplane from books, but until he has actually taken the controls and experienced real flight, he will never be a pilot. Training is combining teaching with experience. In preparing our children for life, they need more than just teaching – they need training.”
Rick Joyner

Cultivating Prayer in Children

“When adults attempt to teach children to pray, they should encourage the children to keep doing what they do naturally: retain a simple, conversational approach to prayer.” Alvin Vander Griend

  • Encourage children to pray – Teach them to pray short one-sentence prayers, especially the very young ones. Help them to understand that they are developing a deep love relationship with God.
  • Pray together as a family – There are several good books for family devotions. Make sure that the children pray during these times. Encourage families to become lighthouses of prayer in their neighborhood, and make sure that the children are included.
  • Teach prayer through modeling – Children learn by watching and observing. They grow in prayer by watching adults to see if they prioritize prayer. They copy everything. They learn from our attitudes and actions. They catch enthusiasm for prayer from our lives.
  • Teach children to pray together – Help provide an accepting atmosphere in group prayer. Affirm their prayers. Let them see you pray for them.
  • Help children to learn to listen to God – Help them to grow in silent prayer. Teach them to listen to the still, small voice of God.
  • Prayerwalk the neighborhood with your children – They know the area and can often know how to pray for their friends and the families of their friends. Go on short prayerwalks with children. Realize that God may open up divine contacts through them.
  • Give children special prayer assignments – Teach them to pray for their school, the sick and unsaved friends. Let the children give testimonies of answered prayer.
  • Invite children to pray in church – They can pray in the Sunday school classes and other prayer meetings. Let them participate, because children learn by involvement. It is good for church prayer meetings to become intergenerational. All ages should be included in praying in church.
  • Plan prayer events and include the children – Children learn by doing. Let them experience prayer. They like to use their senses to see, touch, taste, feel and hear.
  • Teach children to pray for the nations – Be creative and use maps, pictures, etc. to help them see what they are praying for. Teach them to pray for missionaries and adopt countries as prayer assignments.
  • Pair the children with adults and young people – They will learn so much about prayer in this way. Realize that adults learn so much from children in prayer as well. Let children be part of the prayer ministry in the church.
  • Teach children to read and pray God’s Word out loud – They learn the Bible and begin to pray what is on God’s heart. They learn to pray biblical prayers.
  • Allow some fun during prayer – In her book When Children Pray, Cheri Fuller says, “Remember that prayer times don’t have to be all work and no play. Kids transition easily from the seriousness of prayer into the fun of play and laughter. So if you lead children on a prayerwalk, also stop by a playground to hop on the swings, or visit an ice cream shop.”
  • Teach children good prayer habits – Show them variety in prayer such as folding your hands, kneeling, and lifting your hands in worship. Teach them to give all their attention to someone who is praying, teach them to close their eyes, etc.
  • Encourage children to talk about everything to God – Show them that prayer is not just asking for things, but also praising and giving thanks. Teach them to confess their sins to God.

See the prayer resources for children on this website. Here is another prayer resource for kids called Kidzmatter and another on Pinterest. I also highly recommend the International House of Prayer conferences that also provide full teaching tracks for children. For more details, e-mail equipchildren@ihop.org or see IHOPKC/cec. Morningstar also has training for children at their conferences. In order to move forward with what God has for us in the prayer movement, we must begin to put a high priority in training children in prayer and intercession.

“Train up a child in the way he should go, even when he is old he will not depart from it” (Proverbs 22:6).

“We will teach the best that which we love the most. We will teach nothing well that we do not love ourselves. Living waters can only come from ‘the innermost being’. The purpose of training our children is to ignite in them that which they were created to be – lovers and worshippers of God… Those who have a passion for Jesus, who are continuing learning about Him, drawing closer to Him, are the most contagious people in the world – they will infect everyone they touch with a passion for God, including their children.” Rick Joyner

 A Prayer Movement Among Youth

All around the world, God is raising up young people who are embracing a radical lifestyle that will help usher in a mighty harvest of souls. We are living in strategic times. God is looking for young people who will live with reckless abandon and fearless devotion to Him. He is looking for those who have been prepared in the secret place of intimacy for a supernatural release. They are responding to God by embracing lives of prayer and fasting.

There is a growing prayer revolution among the youth. “See You At the Pole” has mobilized millions of kids to pray at their schools. In youth groups, on campuses and in teen ministries, a mighty army of praying youth is rising up. The ministry of Intercessors Arise International wants to encourage this prayer potential in youth all around the world. We want to provide opportunities for youth to grow in intercession, intimacy with God, worship and vision for the harvest. Please pray for youth to rise up and become a mighty army for God, empowered for the end-times harvest in all the nations of the world.

“Young people today are crying out, ‘Yes,
we will do the extreme thing for God.
We will pay the price. We will live holy lives.”

A Prayer Movement Among Women

There are many women who know how to wield great authority on their knees. This authority, through spirit-filled praying, brings heaven to earth and changes the course of the world. Women who have been disciplined and prepared have faith and boldness to overthrow the enemy bent on destruction. Esther was such a woman. Even though she was an adopted orphan, through preparation and discipline, the favor of God rested upon her, as she was willing to be used by a holy God to save an entire people. We are seeing a generation of Esther’s arising – godly, obedient, grace-filled women who are being positioned to overthrow the enemies of the future.”

God is raising up a prayer movement among women throughout the world. There are several organizations such as Women’s Aglow, Lydia, and Moms in Touch that gather women to pray throughout the world.

Women often lead the way in prayer. They meet in homes, in prayer circles, on the telephone, and in churches to pray for families, friends and neighbors. Intercessors Arise International wants to encourage and inform women about what is happening in prayer among women throughout the world. Click the title below to find out more about what is happening with women and prayer. Also, take advantage of the teachings and resources for women on prayer. It’s time for a mighty prayer movement among women to arise!

“These are days of supernatural conception and birthing.
I believe God is asking the question today, ”Where are my Sarahs?’
He is saying, ‘I plan to conceive My purpose to bring forth My inheritance
in the nations in this hour. I need Sarahs filled with faith
who can conceive and bring forth this plan.”

A Prayer Movement Among Children

IMG_4774The Lord values and encourages the prayers of children. Many children are called to the ministry of intercession. Jesus, Himself, wanted to be in His Father’s house at the age of twelve. Samuel learned to discern God’s voice as a young boy. Josiah became king at the age of eight. We read in 2 King 23:25, “Neither before or after Josiah was there a king like him who turned to the Lord as he did with all his heart, and with all his soul and with all his strength.” We read in Mt.
21:16, “From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise.”

Children needed to be cultivated in prayer. They need to be included in adult prayer activities because they learn by example. Prayer lives grow and expand as people are given encouragement and opportunity to pray. Children pray from trusting hearts. They have a childlike faith that we can all learn from, and they believe God hears their prayers. They have a natural ability and heart to cry out to Jesus from a very early age. Jesus is tender towards the prayers of a child. Powerful intercession can come from the lips of those with simple, childlike faith.

We need to encourage a movement of prayer among children throughout the world. We have the opportunity to develop young intercessors. They need to be encouraged to pray individually, with others of their age and with the rest of the body of Christ. We can tap into the powerful prayers of children.

You can help mobilize a powerful intercessory army among the children. If you have a burden to develop children in prayer and intercession, please contact deb@intercessorsarise.org. We believe that there are several intercessors and children’s workers who have a heart for seeing children released in intercession throughout the world.
