Dudo que muchos del pueblo de Dios se despierten por la mañana con la idea sorprendente: “Yo estoy hecho a imagen de Dios!” En vez de eso, sucede todo lo contrario con frecuencia—muchos se deprimen sobre sí mismos con sentimientos de inseguridad, la insignificancia, y la falta de autoestima. Si queremos la libertad para orar de todo corazón, tenemos que entender algunas de las cosas que están obstaculizando nuestra entrega de todo corazón en la oración. Cuando hay tráfico negativo en nuestros corazones, nos distraemos en la oración. Estamos consumidos por nuestras propias necesidades. No somos libres para servir plenamente a Dios en cada área de la vida, especialmente en la oración.

¿Cómo hemos llegado a un lugar tan difícil?

Veamos de nuevo a la creación y al jardín donde todo comenzó. Sí, estamos hechos a imagen de Dios. El origen mismo de la relación fue la Trinidad. El Padre, el Hijo y el Espíritu Santo estaban en perfecta relación—estaban en perfecta armonía, con perfecta comunicación y respeto. Y ellos dijeron: “Hagamos al hombre a nuestra imagen y semejanza.”

La intención original de Dios para nuestro mundo es que nuestras necesidades fueran satisfechas a través de nuestra familia, la sociedad y la creación. Nuestros padres, se supone, deben representar el carácter de Dios Los niños deben saber que son amados, cuidados, y que sus necesidades van a ser satisfechas en todos los sentidos. Ellos deben estar seguros de quien son (identidad), quien van a ser (el destino), y en sus relaciones (pertenencia). Incluso en la sociedad nuestras relaciones y el gobierno deben caracterizarse por el amor, la generosidad, la sabiduría, el respeto mutuo y el aprecio. No debe haber injusticia, la codicia y el abuso.

Desafortunadamente esto no es cierto. Vemos la destrucción de la sociedad y de la familia en todas las dimensiones de la vida. Muchos de nosotros estamos consternados por lo que está sucediendo con la trata de personas, el asesinato dentro de las familias, tiroteos en las escuelas, y el aumento de la inmoralidad y la pornografía en todo el mundo. Los cerca de 300 niñas recientemente secuestrados de su escuela de Nigeria por los terroristas, muchas de los que probablemente se están vendiendo en la trata de personas, ha conmocionado al mundo. ¡Más de 9,000 niñas son secuestradas cada año en África subsaharian!

Esto no es lo que Dios desea. En la creación, todo debía funcionar junto en armonía bajo su señorío. ¿Puede usted imaginar nuestro mundo sin enfermedades, sin abuso, y sin desastres? Así es como Dios hizo la tierra y lo que Él quería.

Pero el hombre se rebeló y todo cambió. Nuestro mundo se quedó completamente fuera de control, y lo que antes era un mundo perfecto es ahora uno en completo desorden a causa del pecado.

La caída trajo una grave perturbación a todo—la familia, la sociedad y a toda la creación. El resultado fueron heridas. Ahora tenemos relaciones rotas, naciones fragmentadas, y la decadencia y el desorden en todas partes. Una vez escuché que dijo: “Sé amable con todos porque todos están pasando por algún tipo de batalla.” La verdad es que todo el mundo pelea, porque vivimos en un mundo caído.

Muchas personas saltan de un trabajo a otro, de un matrimonio a otro, o de una iglesia a otra, con la esperanza de encontrar la plenitud y totalidad. La verdad es que no vamos a estar plenamente satisfecho hasta llegar al Cielo. Estamos hechos para algo mucho mayor que lo que puede ofrecer la tierra. Estamos hechos para la eternidad, y Dios la ha puesto en nuestros corazones (Eclesiastés 3:11).

Imagina un mundo seguro y perfecto sin pecado. Si nos sentimos seguros tendremos una mayor capacidad de soportar dificultades en la vida. Sería mucho más fácil hacer amistades a largo plazo y tener buenas relaciones con los padres y figuras de autoridad. Queremos ser capaces de confiar en un nivel mucho más profundo. Nos gustaría tener una buena autoestima con un sistema de creencias positivas y esperanzadoras sobre nosotros mismos, nuestra familia, y sobre la sociedad.

Pero el problema es que en muchos casos, si no en la mayoría de nosotros, nos sentimos muy inseguros en un mundo roto y herido. Nuestras necesidades humanas básicas son a menudo insatisfechas, y hay un enorme aumento del miedo en todo el mundo.

Nuestras Necesidades Humanas Básicas

Todos tenemos las mismas necesidades humanas básicas. Estas necesidades son dados por Dios. Ellas son la necesidad de:

  •  Un sentido de la valor – Necesitamos un sentido de identidad y autoestima. Todo el mundo es digno de ser amado y tiene un valor intrínseco. Fuimos hechos a la imagen de Dios.
    “Y creó Dios al hombre a imagen suya, a imagen de Dios lo creó; varón y hembra los creó” (Génesis 1:27).
  • Un sentido de significado – Todos necesitamos significado y propósito en nuestra vida. Necesitamos sentir que somos importantes y nuestra contribución es valorada. Dios nos ha prometido una vida abundante.
    “El ladrón no viene sino para hurtar y matar y destruir; Yo he venido para que tengan vida y la tengan en abundancia” (Juan 10:10a).
  • Un sentido de pertenencia y significado – Tenemos que saber que somos amados y aceptados. Necesitamos una familia. Dios ha dicho que somos sus hijos. Pertenecemos a su familia.
    “Mas a todos los que le recibieron, a los que creen en su nombre, les dio potestad de ser hechos hijos de Dios” (Juan 1:12).

Las necesidades insatisfechas se manifiestan en nuestras relaciones. Cuando nuestras necesidades no son satisfechas, hay una falta de seguridad, falta de significado, y falta de autoestima. Cuando somos inseguros podemos tener una sensación de rechazo, un sentimiento de no pertenencia, y de sentirse no amado e inseguro. Cuando carecemos de sentido de valor personal, podemos dudar de nuestro propósito y significado. Si carecemos de la autoestima personal, podemos tener duda de nosotros mismos, sentir auto-rechazo, y odia hacia nosotros mismos.

Mire alrededor de su mundo. ¿Cuántos se sienten así en lo más secreto de su corazón? ¿Por qué hay tanta violencia en las familias y en la sociedad?

El Espíritu Herido

“El ánimo del hombre lo sostiene en la enfermedad, pero a aquel con un espíritu herido quién lo puede soportar?” (Proverbios 18:14)

Nuestras necesidades no satisfechas conducen a heridas. Un niño que no es apreciado, alimentado, y afirmado tendrá heridas. El es impactado por el abandono, el rechazo y maltrato. Tener un espíritu herido conduce a la enfermedad física y la enfermedad, emocional y a los trastornos de la personalidad. Las heridas llevan al aislamiento, una sensación de rechazo, abandono o violación. Esto puede llevar a la conclusión, “Debe haber algo malo en mí.”

¿Cuál es la respuesta a nuestros corazones rotos? ¿Quién puede sanar nuestras heridas más profundas?

Jesús Vino a Sanar el Corazón Herido

“El Señor está cerca del corazón quebrantado y salva a los que están aplastados en espíritu (Salmo 34:18).

Dios es la respuesta a través de Jesús. Su amor se ha hecho visible a través de Cristo. Dios nos da un propósito para vivir, un trabajo que hacer (Génesis 1:28, Jn. 15:16). Somos hijos e hijas con Dios como nuestro Padre. Somos un linaje escogido y un sacerdocio real. Pertenecemos a Dios y somos hechos a su imagen (Génesis 1:26). Somos aceptados por Dios y no somos condenados (Romanos 8:33, 34). Dios muestra un corazón de compasión y un deseo para restaurarnos. Jesús ha venido para darnos una vida abundante (Juan 10:10).

Podemos acercarnos a Dios y pedirle que sane nuestros corazones heridos. Tómese el tiempo para estar quieto delante de Dios y dejar que Él toque su corazón. Ponga música suave de adoración y deje que Él le hable. Dile a Dios sobre cualquier herida en su corazón. Con lápiz y papel al lado de usted, anote todo lo que viene a la mente. Aquí hay algunas cosas que usted puede hacer que ayudará a facilitar la sanidad de Dios en su corazón:

  • Pídale a Dios una revelación de su corazón – Escucha su voz. Él puede hablar a través de un versículo, una palabra, o una imagen. Cuando se recibe una revelación de su corazón para ti, todo cambia (Juan 10:27).
  • Renueve su compromiso de buscar más intimidad con Dios – Descubre a tu redentor de una manera más profunda (Medita en el Salmo 42).

Anímense porque Dios está en el proceso de sanar nuestros corazones heridos. Tenemos mucho por qué vivir y la eternidad está delante de nosotros. En Dios y por medio de Jesús tenemos valor e identidad, significado y propósito, y la seguridad y aceptación. Podemos orar con todo el corazón. Somos hijos de Dios y estamos en su familia. Nuestro Dios quiere sanar nuestros corazones heridos!
